Eight Reasons This Year’s Wizards Are Already So Depressing

John Wall, Nene and Kevin Seraphin are supposed to return sometime soon, and it was just one game, but here are eight reasons the 2012-13 Wizards are already such a sad, sad group: 1. The starting lineup: A.J. Price, Bradley Beal, Trevor Ariza, Trevor Booker and Emeka Okafor. Woof. 2. The bench lineup: Jannero Pargo, Jordan Crawford, Martell Webster, Chris Singleton and Jan Vesely...

Game Recap: Washington vs Cleveland

Basketball is back! While people prepared to watch Miami and Boston on TNT, The Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards took center-stage. The result was Cleveland defeating Washington in a 94-84 final, and I must say both teams looked decent. Cleveland was active on the boards, and when they needed him most, Kyrie Irving stepped up. Washington on the other hand, looked very...

ESPN announced today that it has hired former NBA coach Flip Saunders and former player Antonio Davis to serve as NBA analysts. Saunders will appear on a number of studio shows, including SportsCenter, NBA Coast to Coast and NBA Tonight. Saunders is scheduled to appear tonight during NBA Coast to Coast at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN and Thursday during the

The #1 Stat In Determining the 2012-13 NBA Champion

During last year’s playoffs I took a statistical look at Charles Barkley’s and most experts’ accusations that the Oklahoma City Thunder only shot “90-foot jumpers”. I also dived into OKC’s chances at winning the title. Let’s just say Sir Charles did a little exaggerating. In short, what my research showed was that the old adage “Defense The post The #1 Stat In Determining...

Barkley says Spurs can't beat Thunder, Lakers

The San Antonio Spurs beat the defending Western Conference Champions Oklahoma City Thunder last night in thrilling fashion with a last-second shot made by Tony Parker. And though it is very early in the season, the Spurs seem to be clicking on all cylinders after two games and they could be the last team standing come June. However, TNT's Charles Barkley disagrees. ...

Stan Van Gundy joins NBC to call college basketball

Stan Van Gundy has finally signed with a network to begin his media career... and there's nothing David Stern can do about it this time.  After embarrassing reports of Stern blocking Van Gundy's hiring to be a part of ESPN's NBA coverage, the former Magic head coach has signed on with NBC to be a basketball analyst and radio host for the new NBC Sports Radio network...

Shaquille O'Neal wants to box Jason Whitlock

Jason Whitlock became a brief topic of conversation on Tuesday night's Inside the NBA when a tweet of his was read regarding the physical fitness of Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal.  I know, Jason Whitlock commenting on anyone's "shirt-off" is probably the most laughable thing you'll hear all day, but stick with me, here. Shaq then challenged Jason...

Shaquille O'Neal challenges Jason Whitlock to a fight

Before last night's Inside the NBA, popular sports columnist Jason Whitlock decided to send out the below tweet talking about who would win a future shirt-off  (last year's version can be seen here) between Charles Barkley and Shaq:When that information was revealed to Shaq during the show, he decided to challenge Jason to a fight:After hearing Shaq diss him, Jason responded...

Duncan passes Barkley on NBA rebounding list

Last night San Antonio Spurs' Tim Duncan grabbed eight rebounds in a 86-84 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. With those eight boards, Duncan passed Charles Barkley on the NBA's career rebounding list. Barkley finished his career with 12,546 boards and Duncan now has 12,552 boards moving TD into 17th place. In 16th place is Bob Pettit with 12,849 rebounds. TD will need...

Whitlock: Shaq doesn't want THIS

Let's hope Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley talk some sense into Shaquille O'Neal. Let's hope the legendary NBA center gracefully, promptly and humbly rescinds his challenge for physical combat with yours truly. Given the propensity of former professional athletes to file for bankruptcy, I would take little pleasure in one of my 20 favorite athletes of...

Shaq challenges Jason Whitlock to a fight

Former All-Star Center and current NBA analyst Shaquille O’Neal has never been one to lay down during an argument.  And last night he decided to respond to a tweet from Foxsports.com writer Jason Whitlock.Right now, Chuck would win Shirt-Off II… Shaq is opening the season out of shape, as usual. #nbaontnt— Jason Whitlock (@WhitlockJason) October 31, 2012For those that have...

This image was brought to my attention recently by someone who stumbled upon it online. Guess it was hidden deep in the annals of the internet somewhere, as I was unaware that it even existed. This (extremely accurate and vivid) depiction of the Orlando Magic facing off against the Houston Rockets was done by me circa 1996, and shows my early affinity for basketball, as well as...
