Big Ten Network has been helping us pass the long offseason by airing their lists of the Top Ten quarterbacks of past decades. The most recent installment I saw was the 1990s. The 1980s and 2000s (2000-2009) have already aired (check the lists out here). To make the list a quarterback had to play at least two seasons in the decade.
As you can see Purdue quarterback Drew Brees topped the list of 1990s QBs. And, is there really any room for argument? Tom Brady may have been the third Michigan QB on this list, but things have turned out much differently in the NFL for that group.
Here's a fun fact from the show: Trent Green rushed for three scores against Auburn in the 1990 Peach Bowl. It's actually a record against Auburn, tied with Jack Mildren of Oklahoma from the 1972 Sugar Bowl. Auburn still won that game against Green and Indiana, 27-23.
Would you re-rank this list in some way based on their performance in college? Did any Big Ten quarterback from the 1990s get snubbed here?

Drew Brees Cashes In With Huge Contract, But Saints Quarterback Might Have to Watch His Back
Drew Brees got paid in the biggest way as he became the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL. Now, the Saints quarterback will have to watch his back. Following Bountygate and entering the season without the services of head coach Sean Payton, Brees and the rest of the Saints for that matter may have a pretty big bull's-eye on their backs.
New Orleans Saints: Drew Brees Is Battling Father Time
To be kind, the New Orleans Saints have not had the greatest offseason in the history of the National Football League. This might rank as one of the worst off-seasons a team has ever had. It certainly would be in the top ten of bad off-seasons in the history of the NFL.
A long protracted negotiation that broke down and resulted in Drew Brees playing under the Franchise...
Drew Brees’ record contract awarded out of desperation
It has not been one of the better off-season’s in the world of football. There has already been a host of arrests to leave a sour taste. Following top drafted receiver Justin Blackmon’s arrest, the verdict for Jerry Sandusky came in and found him guilty on nearly every charge. Adding to this was the Spring exposure of Bounty-Gate containing some alarming diatribe from Gregg...
Saints’ Drew Brees treats fans to celebratory sandwiches
Shortly after officially becoming New Orleans’ $100 million man, Drew Brees grabbed some grub to celebrate. Whereas most — nearly all — athletes would choose to dine alone, Brees invited the locals out to his Jimmy John’s sandwich shop, which he opened last year. Who wants to join me for a celebratory #9 at Jimmy [...]
Saints finally sign Drew Brees
We all knew this was going to get done, and the New Orleans Saints finally dumped enough money to get Drew Brees to sign on the dotted line.
Brees’ New Deal: The Impact on Aaron Rodgers And The Packers
Two quarterbacks, two rings and a whole lot of money
When the Green Bay Packers play the New Orleans Saints on September 30 at Lambeau Field, Aaron Rodgers needs to find Drew Brees and give him a big hug because Brees has just made a Rodgers a very rich man.
Last week Brees signed a five-year deal worth $100 million, with $40 million guaranteed for 2012 alone and $60 million guaranteed...
What does the Drew Brees deal mean for Matt Forte and the Bears?
So Drew Brees got an NFL-record $100 million, 5 year deal from the Saints. That they agreed to a contract surprised no one, that $60 million is guaranteed over three years surprised everyone. I’ll leave debating the wisdom of that much guaranteed money to others but finally getting some good news out of that franchise is refreshing. This was quite a slump buster.

The New Orleans star QB visited Saints headquarters to take a physical and sign the five-year contract that made him the highest average annual pay in NFL history — Brees then grabbed a sandwich at the Jimmy John’s sandwich shop he owns, where he posed for photos, shook hands and signed autographs — I wish this deal could have been done as...

Stafford’s next contract could be Brees like
So far Martin Mayhew and the rest of the Lions’ front office have been able to weather Phase 2 of the Millen effect. Phase 2 of the Millen effect again is having to deal with the monetary aspect of the first round draft picks once their rookie contracts are up. For instance they’ve succeeded in locking down the best wide-out in the game long-term in Calvin Johnson while holding...
