Buffalo Bills safety Jairus Byrd is eager to put the criticism and scrutiny behind, now that he's finally ready to play. With both feet healthy and getting the green light from coach Doug Marrone, the two-time Pro Bowl player will make his season debut Sunday, when Buffalo (2-3) hosts Cincinnati (3-2). It'll mark the long-awaited start to Byrd's season after he had his motives questioned during an offseason-long contract dispute. He raised further doubts about his desire to play in Buffalo after missing the first five games with plantar fasciitis in both feet. That's over with, Byrd said following practice Wednesday. His sole focus is to help the Bills win. Whether or not Bills fans believe him, Byrd said his intention all along has been to play football. --- AP NFL website:

Doug Marrone explains how QB Thad Lewis was named Bills’ starter

Buffalo Bills Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone gave a long explanation on Monday for how practice squad quarterback Thad Lewis became the team’s starter for their game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. From the Bills official website: “At that point it was a process of trying and going out and getting the best veteran possible that had the ability to play and win, that...

Whaley not actively shopping Byrd

Bills general manager Doug Whaley is more eager to see Jairus Byrd make his season debut this weekend, than to try to project the two-time Pro Bowl safety's future in Buffalo. Whaley told The Associated Press on Thursday that while he is not actively shopping Byrd, the Bills would listen to offers if another team called. "Our focus right now is Jairus getting on the field...

Bills trade back in draft could be the best move they have made in years

The Buffalo Bills were sitting at number 8 in the NFL draft, and they could have easily taken their quarterback with that pick, but instead they dealt the pick to the Saint Louis Rams who selected Tavon Austin. What many forget to realize is that the Buffalo Bills moved down to pick number 16 to […]

Can the Bengals beat the Bills in Buffalo? They have only done it once in the past 40 years

The Cincinnati Bengals have basically been the Buffalo Bills girl in their series.  In the past 40 years, the Bengals have only beaten the Bills one time.  That was in 1985 when former Buffalo Bill Larry Kinnebrew ran for 128 yards and lead the Bengals to a 23-17 win.  That is pretty wild, but this […]

NFL Week 6 Preview: Buffalo Bills vs Cincinnati Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals visit the Buffalo Bills in Week 6 to kick off a stretch in which they play four of their next five games on the road. They are coming off a charged, defensive victory over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. The Bills meanwhile begin the toughest stretch of their schedule with Thad Lewis at quarterback thanks to an LCL injury that will sideline rookie starter...

Buffalo Bills: 2013 Week 6 NFL Power Rankings (#27)

Last week: 27 (+0) Record: 2-3 The Bills would be higher if I trusted Thad Lewis/Jeff Tuel at all going forward. The Bills have the worst quarterback situation in the NFL for the next 6-8 weeks as their choices are an undrafted rookie in Jeff Tuel (who went 8 of 20 for 80 yards and a pick six against Cleveland), a practice squad quarterback in Thad Lewis, or someone they sign off...

Week 6 preview: Buffalo Bills vs. Cincinnati Bengals

A healthy Jairus Byrd is a sight for sore eyes, making his season debut this week. After 10 days rest, the Buffalo Bills (2-3) hope to bounce back in Week 6 after losing in Cleveland last Thursday night. The Bills will be welcoming the Cincinnati Bengals (3-2) to the friendly confines of Ralph Wilson Stadium, with kickoff scheduled at 1 p.m. What should we look for? I’m glad you...

Jeff Tuel Gives #8 to back to Brian Moorman Jeff Tuel may not have played the best after EJ Manuel got hurt week 5 against the Browns. He wont even start this week against the Bengals. But one thing he has in spades, is class. Tuel, who is an undrafted free agent rookie QB, wears #8. Bills just resigned long time punter Brian Moorman, who for 11 years, wore #8. Moorman revealed today on twitter that Tuel...

How can the Bills win with Thad Lewis?

Let me start off this post by saying "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!" Pretty much that's how I'm dealing with the Bills QB situation. After reading the headline for this piece, I'm even at the point of pulling an Adrian from Rocky IV and yelling down the stairs to Rocky "YOU CANT WIN!!"  At this point, there is no point about arguing about who should...

Stevie Johnson's consecutive games streak sounds in jeopardy

Buffalo Bills receiver Stevie Johnson missed practice Thursday as he is still back in his home state of California after a death in the family. Coach Doug Marrone said it's going to be a "tough call" as to whether Johnson will be available to play Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Complicating matters for Johnson and the Bills is a lower-back injury suffered in...

Bills backs fully prepared for eight-man fronts

BY DAN BEGNOCHEThe Buffalo Bills' run game has seen its fair share of stacked boxes so far this season as teams have tried to force E.J. Manuel to beat them with his arm. With Manuel out and Thad Lewis in, that trend is sure to continue, if not increase, in their matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals.Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller's thoughts on the continued pressure? Bring...
