Dave Blaney is set to make his 400th-career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start on Sunday when the series takes the green flag for the Kobalt Tools 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He’ll be behind the wheel of the No. 36 entry for Tommy Baldwin Racing. “It doesn’t feel like it will be my 400th start,” Blaney said. “I’ve probably made more than 1,700 starts in sprint and stock cars throughout my career, but it sure doesn’t feel like it. I’m just very lucky to be able to do what I love every day.” The previous 399 starts include 10 races at Las Vegas. His best finish at LVMS is a 10th-place showing in 2002. “Vegas will be a good test for our new engine package on the mile-and-a-half tracks,” Blaney said. “We’re looking to have a good point day this weekend as we have so far. That way, if we get into a position where we have a bad day or can’t compete because of sponsorship, we should still be in the top-35 in points.” The 1995 World of Outlaws champion made his Sprint (then-Winston) Cup
