BOSTON — Mike Dunlap needs to work on giving compliments.
The Bobcats coach was apparently being flattering of Paul Pierce, the workmanlike star of the Celtics, when he praised Pierce is the weirdest way possible on Saturday. After saying a bunch of normal things about the way Pierce controls the game and always gets the shot he wants, Dunlap got really creative with his admiration.
At least, we think it was admiration.
“He just settled the entire team down,” Dunlap said after Pierce and the Celtics beat his Bobcats 105-88 on Saturday. “He has a calm disposition. He doesn’t get too high or too low, and that’s been his entire career. He’s just a salty dog warrior.”
If Pierce were to make up his own nicknames, a la Kobe Bryant, chances are “salty dog warrior” would not be one of his first choices. Only heaven knows where that combination of words came from. You can’t just open the dictionary, close your eyes and invent a compliment based on the first three words your finger lands on, ...

You can’t tune out the fact that the Miami Heat have won 20 straight games and are now tied for the third-longest winning streak in NBA history. The longest, 33 in a row, was done by the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers. But, if you ask Paul Pierce what he thinks about the potential of playing the Heat on a 22-game win streak come Monday, he simply doesn’t care and if truth be told...

"I really don't even care. I hope they lose every game the rest of the season. I just worry about what this team does"-Paul Pierce
I just love this team. No other team in the league is as hardcore as
the Celtics. They don't care about being liked and what other teams/fans think of them. They embrace the rivalry they have with the Heat and
don't try to suck...
It wasn’t that long ago that rumors were swirling about drastically changing the Boston Celtics roster to make a playoff run, but after no blockbuster trades were made, the C’s find themselves sitting pretty in the standings and working with what they have.
Only 3 1/2 games back of the New York Knicks in the division standings, the Celtics can almost look back to earlier in the...
The Heat have a former member of the Boston Celtics as part of their starting 5 this season in Ray Allen. The two teams have had a few playoff battles as of late, so of course there’s no love lost between the two teams. Naturally when asked about the Heat’s current 21-game winning streak, Paul Pierce and company don’t really have much to say about it.
The Boston Celtics may have found themselves in a relatively light week — light enough that they’ve made an obvious effort to give Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett more rest than usual — but they’ll be right back in the swing of things this Monday. NBA odds favor the reigning champion Miami Heat in the March matchup, but the last time these two clubs met the veteran C’s came...
Jason Terry said he is not impressed with the Miami Heat's current win streak or anything else that they do, for that matter.
Boston Celtics center Kevin Garnett has a left adductor strain that kept him out of the Celtics' 105-88 win over the Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday and out of practice on Sunday.
Celtics coach Doc Rivers said Garnett is "50/50 at best" to play Monday night against the Miami Heat, while Paul Pierce

It’s been quite a busy week historically speaking for the world with recent events and it was no different for our Boston Celtics basketball team! In Wednesday’s night game against the Toronto Raptors, both Paul Pierce as well as Kevin Garnett solidified their places in NBA history in a 112-88 romping of their opponents. Garnett was the big headline of the night passing Jerry...

Let’s see… Saint Patrick’s Day Weekend in Boston. Green beer flowing, the Flogging Molly’s playing and the Dropkick Murphies are about to hit the road en route to North Carolina. We just schooled the most storied team in basketball a few days ago. Now we walk into the room with more banners and retired shirts than any team in history. Paul Pierce, the current Hall of Fame...
