Boston College Hires New Football Coach

(Andy Lyons/Getty Images)Steve Addazio is the new football coach in Chestnut Hills.Who?Six weeks after he took over as Boston College Eagles athletic director and nine days after he announced that football coach Frank Spaziani had been fired, Brad Bates made a surprise move in hiring Temple's Steve Addazio as the Eagles' new coach.After going through the interview process, Bates decided that Addazio -- known for his energy and his ability to recruit in the Northeast, where he has roots -- was the right person for BC.Addazio oversaw the Owls' move from the MAC to the Big East and went 13-11 in his two seasons there.  Prior to that he was an assistant under Urban Meyer at Florida and named interim head coach of the Gators when Meyer abruptly resigned a few years back."I've only been here six weeks," Bates told reporters Tuesday. "I'm looking for a partner who I can be joined at the hip with and really strive for excellence in Boston College athletics, and he's a key leader in this department."Addazio, who signed a six-year contract, will be introduced at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Boston College.To read more, click here.
