Clint Bowyer doesn't need a reason to throw a party, and he already had one planned even before he won at Sonoma. Bowyer celebrated the opening of the Bowyer Community Building in his hometown of Emporia, Kan., on Tuesday night with a concert by country star Blake Shelton. The building is located at the Lyon County fairgrounds and was built with funds raised through Bowyer's ''79 Fund'' charity. ''It was always going to be a big week, starting with all the charity foundation things we had planned, then we go and win the race,'' Bowyer said in a telephone interview on Wednesday. ''It's been the biggest week we've ever had. It just set us up in being able to celebrate, and that we did, let me tell you.'' The Tuesday night concert with Shelton was scheduled as the grand opening of the community center Bowyer gifted to the county. The event included a VIP reception inside the center, where Bowyer, Shelton and NASCAR'...

NASCAR fans wonder who will win next

I am really happy for Clint Bowyer, who won at Sonoma last Sunday. Clint actually continues a pattern there that has developed over the last few years. He became the eighth different NASCAR Sprint Cup race winner at Sonoma in the last eight years. What's also interesting is that like most of the other seven winners, Clint was not one of the guys we were talking about leading...

Clint Bowyer fends off Tony Stewart for Sonoma victory

SONOMA, Calif. — Clint Bowyer’s victory in Sunday’s Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma was a surprise to the driver who chased him for more than 20 laps — Kurt Busch — but in retrospect, history may have been on Bowyer’s side. “I just kept thinking, ‘He’s a dirt Late Model racer from the Midwest — there’s no way he can be able to run the road course,’ but he did...

NASCAR Bonus Points: Is Brian Vickers Proving Himself Worth of a Full-Time Cup Ride at MWR?

With Clint Bowyer's win on Sunday, the limelight of legitimacy on Michael Waltrip Racing continues to grow. Right over the shoulder of Bowyer's ace performance were his teammates' superb runs. Unfortunately, Martin Truex Jr.'s top-10 day was cut short by some vintage road course scuffling, but third teammate Brian Vickers found an unscathed path to a top-5 finish...

NASCAR: Drivers on the Move After Sonoma

Sunday was a good day for castaways. Three drivers who moved away from top-notch rides following the 2011 season put forth excellent efforts, including race winner Clint Bowyer. And for that they are rewarded with favorable mentions in this article. Up: Clint Bowyer The 5-Hour Energy man (castaway No. 1) flat-out dominated, leaving well over half the laps in wine country...

It has all come together for MWR

This year has brought NASCAR a surging Michael Waltrip Racing. Martin Truex Jr. has been running extremely well. Clint Bowyer just won Sunday at Sonoma. Even the No. 55 car, shared by drivers Mark Martin and Brian Vickers, has been awesome. When you combine the talents of the drivers the organization has, along with the talents of such as competition leader Scott Miller and crew...
