Clint Bowyer gave Michael Waltrip Racing its first win of the year Sunday when he took the checkered flag in the No. 15 MWR Toyota in the Toyota/Save Mart 350 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at the road course in Sonoma, Calif. “That’s pretty freaking amazing right there,” an excited Brian Pattie, crew chief on the No. 15 team, said as Bowyer celebrated with a victory burnout. “Here in the last month or so, we’ve hit on a few things.” Bowyer climbed out of his car and walked to victory lane after running his car out of gas on the burnout. “To switch teams like I did was a huge risk for me,” Bowyer said in victory lane. Tony Stewart got by Kurt Busch on the final lap of the green-white-checkered finish to claim second. “We made a mistake,” Busch said of getting into the tire barrier in turn 11, allowing Stewart to take the runner-up spot. “I just made that one mistake.” Busch held on to finish third, and Brian Vickers was fourth, despite a pit road speeding penalty early in the race.
