LOUDON, NH - SEPTEMBER 18: Clint Bowyer, driver of the #33 Cheerios/Hamburger Helper Chevrolet stands on the grid during qualifying for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Sylvania 300 at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway on September 18, 2009 in Loudon, New Hampshire (Photo by Jason Smith/Getty Images for NASCAR)
Clint Bowyer raced to his first victory on a road course, and first with Michael Waltrip Racing, holding off Kurt Busch at Sonoma. Bowyer dominated Sunday's race, but defending race winner Busch was all over his bumper late. A caution with four laps remaining set up a final restart and overtime finish, and forced Bowyer to earn the victory. He raced side by side with Busch at the green flag, but cleared Busch and pulled away for the win. Tony Stewart passed Busch on the final lap to claim second, and Busch wound up third. Brian Vickers was fourth for MWR, followed by Hendrick Motorsports teammates Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon. Greg Biffle was seventh, followed by pole-sitter Marcos Ambrose, AJ Allmendinger and Joey Logano.
