Box Score 11/23: Rose, Shields and Gucci

Good morning and welcome to Yardbarker's Box Score, what we're reading while deciding which Thursday game grandma won't complain about if we roll the TV into the dining room for turkey time.

Happy birthday to Malik Rose, Jonathan Papelbon, Colby Armstrong, Nicklas Backstrom and Vin Baker. On this date in 1989 was the infamous "Bounty Bowl" between the Eagles and the Cowboys. If you want a kick, read the coverage of the game at the time, "Live by the big hit. Die by the other team's big hit."

Around the league:

YB ICYMI:

"Hate: We may all be in unison here, but own goals are pretty bad and normally funny as hell if they don’t involve your team. Recently against Colorado, Winnipeg’s Nikolaj Ehlers wanted to get the puck off the boards, and he seemingly attempted to make a one-handed touch pass to Toby Enstrom. That didn’t happen. Not by a long shot. Though they walked away with a point, Ehlers’ own goal actually costs them a road game in overtime. Yikes." - What we love (and hate) so far this NHL season

"Lady luck is on Ohio State’s side slightly as it gets to play the biggest game of the season at home against rival Michigan who might be without their starting quarterback. Still, the Buckeyes have their own issues to deal with as they head into the end of the season where they could be knocked out of the playoff picture with a loss to Michigan and the inability to improve their ranking if they can’t play in the Big 10 Championship as a result of that loss." - College Football Playoff rankings: Stability at last

Congratulations, Gucci! Now (thankfully) no one can complain about game proposals again.
