The NCAA announced the sites for the 2014 and 2015 men's basketball tournament Monday and for the sixth time in its history, the BMO Harris Bradley Center will host tournament games.
In conjunction with Marquette University, the BMO Harris Bradley Center will be the site of second and third round games on March 20-22 of 2014. The second and third round games are what used to be the opening rounds of the tournament, but now with the play-in games, the NCAA calls it the second and third rounds.
MU and the BMO Harris Bradley Center last hosted in 2010, but had tried to host in 2011, 2012 and 2013 but was not selected, most likely due to the NCAA wanting to rotate the tournament around the country. The arena has never been selected as a site for the Sweet 16 and Elite 8.
The tournament brings a major economic boom to not only the arena, but Downtown Milwaukee. The NCAA not only pays a fee to rent the BMO Harris Bradley Center, but the arena keeps concessions, parking and suite revenue from the event.
