Brewers starting pitcher Marco Estrada has been placed on the 15-day disabled list after straining his right quad running the bases on Wednesday night against the Giants, the team announced in a statement on Thursday afternoon. Right-handed reliever Mike McClendon will be called up from Triple-A Nashville to replace him. According to reports citing general manager Doug Melvin, Estrada will miss three to four starts with the ailment. Estrada joins several other Brewers on the disabled list, as the team has already lost starting pitcher Chris Narveson, shortstop Alex Gonzalez, and first baseman Mat Gamel for the entire season. In 11 games this season, Estrada was 0-3 with a 4.50 ERA. McClendon struggled mightily in his first stint this season with the club, appearing in three games with a 10.13 ERA. Hell be expected to pick up some of the slack in a bullpen that has been largely overused in the past week, accounting for 28 of the Brewers 61 innings in the past two series. In Estradas place in the rotation, the Brewers are expected to use left-handed long reliever Manny Parra, who has had recent success coming out of the bullpen. With appearances in 19 games, Parra is 0-1 with a 3.70 ERA. Follow Ryan Kartje on Twitter

John Axford shaved off his glorious mustache, tweets picture of the remains as confirmation

If Brewers closer John Axford wants to repeat as winner of the American Mustache Institute’s Robert Goulet Memorial Mustached American of the Year Award, he’s going to have a difficult time doing so, now that Axford has shaved off the glorious mustache that nabbed him the prestigious award in the first place. D-backs have tough task against Greinke

Since getting roughed up in his second start of the season, the Milwaukee Brewers' Zack Greinke has been nearly untouchable over the last month-plus. In what sets up as a low-scoring affair, Greinke takes the hill opposite Miley as the Brewers and Diamondbacks...

The Curious Case of Cody Ransom

The Arizona Diamondbacks placed utility infielder Cody Ransom on waivers earlier this week. On Thursday, the Milwaukee Brewers claimed Ransom and added him to their active roster. When Ransom plays in his first game for the Brewers, he...
