MILWAUKEE -- After back-to-back four strikeout games, Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Juan Francisco got Tuesday off in an attempt to clear his mind. Francisco is 1-for-17 with 13 strikeouts on the current homestand and was visually frustrated Monday night. While Francisco is a high strikeout and big power player, he has recently been missing pitches he usually drives. Former Astros outfielder Rick Ankiel set the major-league record for consecutive plate appearances and at-bats with a strikeout at 10 in April, leaving Francisco just two strikeouts away from tying the mark. Brewers manager Ron Roenicke is hopeful a day off or two will get Francisco back into the groove he was in on the recent road trip. "I'll just kind of watch how today goes," Roenicke said. "I talked to him earlier and he's fine. It gets to you after a while, and I think it got to him the last couple of days. If I thnk he just needs one day I'll get him back in there tomorrow, and I&#...

Brewers Wednesday: Donovan Hand called up again

MILWAUKEE -- By air and by car, Donovan Hand is racking up the miles between Milwaukee and Nashville. The right-hander was sent down to Triple-A on Friday, but is back with the team Wednesday after Rob Wooten was placed on the paternity list. Because there are no direct flights from Nashville to Milwaukee, Hand caught a 6 a.m. flight to Chicago on Wednesday morning where a car was...

Brewers Monday: Carlos Gomez nearing return to field

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez continues to make progress in his recovery from a sprained right knee and should return to the field sometime this week. Brewers manager Ron Roenicke is hoping to get Gomez back in some capacity in the next few days with his return to the lineup coming a short time after that. "He's doing really well," Roenicke...

Brewers' Tom Gorzelanny showing he may be better suited to relief role

MILWAUKEE -- Tom Gorzelanny's audition to be in next year's starting rotation has hit a rough patch, one that may eventually cost him his chance to finish the season as a starting pitcher. While the veteran left-hander will make his next scheduled start, Gorzelanny didn't help his cause Wednesday against St. Louis. The Cardinals batted around and scored six runs in the...

Milwaukee's Kyle Lohse looks sharp against former team

MILWAUKEE -- In Kyle Lohse's first three starts this season against the St. Louis Cardinals, the Milwaukee Brewers couldn't score for him. While Lohse entered Tuesday night with an 0-3 record and a 5.00 ERA against his former team this season, the Brewers had scored just two runs for him in three starts. The tide turned Tuesday, as Lohse posted his 13th quality start in...

The...

Brewers look little like team Cards faced half a season ago

It has been three months since the last meeting between the Cardinals and the Brewers. The Cardinals beat Kyle Lohse 4-2 that Sunday afternoon, and the right-hander was visibly frustrated while losing to his old team for the third time in the season's early weeks. In the half season since, the Brewers actually have improved their lot in the NL Central standings. They were in...

Suspended Milwaukee Brewers star Ryan Braun told players around MLB prior to 2012 spring training that the man who collected his urine sample that tested positive for synthetic testosterone was anti-Semitic in an attempt to discredit him according to Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan. Braun also accused the man Dino Laurenzi Jr. of being a fan of the Chicago Cubs. Braun went to some...

Marco Estrada hoping fourth time is the charm versus Cards

Shelby Miller has baffled numerous opponents this year, but none more so than the Milwaukee Brewers. He'll aim for his third straight win over Milwaukee on Monday night as the St. Louis Cardinals continue their NL Central road trip. The Cardinals (71-52), one game back of Pittsburgh for first place, have had their way with the Brewers this year, winning all four meetings in Milwaukee...

Brewers fans appear willing to forgive and forget with Braun

They are a forgiving lot, these Milwaukee Brewers fans. Even when it comes to Ryan Braun. Shortly before the Cardinals' game Wednesday afternoon in Milwaukee, FOX Sports Midwest reporter Jim Hayes scoured the parking lots and sidewalks around Miller Park to ask Brewers fans what they thought about their disgraced left fielder. Braun, of course, recently accepted a 65-game...

Kyle Lohse looks to have more success against Cards

Beginning on Thursday, the St. Louis Cardinals will play a potentially season-defining stretch of 17 games in 18 days against other NL playoff contenders. For now, they'll happily welcome a few more against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Cardinals look to continue their dominance of the NL Central's cellar dwellers with a sixth straight victory at Miller Park on Tuesday night...

''They made me work for it,'' he said after improving to 3-5 in nine outings overall against his former...

Report: Ryan Braun lobbied for support during 2012 appeal, said handler was anti-Semite

Tweet There’s pretty much no question at this point that the public opinion of Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun has changed after his latest suspension for his role in the Biogenesis scandal. However, the public perception keeps getting worse even after Braun’s recent suspension. According to ESPN’s Buster Olney, Braun “lobbied for support” from fellow […]
