The Milwaukee Brewers have placed right fielder Norichika Aoki on the paternity list, as his wife is expected to give birth to their second child on Thursday. To fill Aoki's spot on the roster, the Brewers have recalled outfielder Josh Prince from Triple-A Nashville. According to MLB rules, Aoki can stay on the paternity list up to three days. Aoki has been on high alert over the past few days. His wife, Sachi, is back in Milwaukee with her mother and has a due date of Thursday. The couple has a daughter named Emily and are expecting their second child to be a son. In his second season with the Brewers since coming over from Japan as a free agent, Aoki is hitting .292 with four home runs, 14 RBI and six stolen bases. Prince, 25, will be with the Brewers for the second time this season. Recalled on April 6, Prince had a double in five at-bats. Optioned back to Triple-A on May 2, Prince is hitting .243 with five home runs and 26 RBI for Nashville. Follow Andrew Gruman on Twitter

Milwaukee Brewers Recall Josh Prince

The Milwaukee Brewers have recalled outfielder Josh Prince from their Triple-A Nashville farm club in an act to provide some outfield depth while Norichika Aoki serves a few days on the paternity list so he can be there for the birth of his second child. Prince has played in six games this season with the Brewers as a replacement player off the bench while Aoki will be gone for 1...

Brewers Minor Leagues are Apparently Not Well Regarded

(Image: Allison Rhoades/MiLB.com) Even as someone who follows the Brewers pretty closely, I don’t know much about the state of the minor leagues.  Other than spring training and September call ups, I only know the names of a few players in Milwaukee’s farm system (I hear this Hunter Morris guy has a lot of upside). I am aware that the Brewers supposedly depleted their...

Brewers' Ryan Braun sees hand specialist

Ryan Braun has been battling an injury to his thumb for weeks now.  Occasional rest did not work, so the Milwaukee Brewers placed him on the DL.  There has been little improvement even while on the DL, so Braun is looking for answers.  Those answers may come from a hand specialist Braun saw recently. Adam McCalvy of MLB.com says Braun visited Dr. Don Sheridan in Phoenix yesterday...

Brewers' Rickie Weeks slowly but surely showing life

The Milwaukee Brewers were on their way to another disheartening loss when they finally got a big hit. Completely shut down by Astros starter Erik Bedard through seven innings, Rickie Weeks greeted reliever Hector Ambriz with a two-run home run to left, giving the Brewers the lead at 2-1. Aramis Ramirez homered off Ambriz for an insurance run in the ninth, while Francisco Rodriguez...

Ryan Braun update: slugger expected to be out longer than orginally expected

In a huge blow to the fortunes of the Milwaukee Brewers and their chase towards a .500 record and the NL Central title, Ryan Braun's hand injury diagnosis has been confirmed by a second specialist and will more than likely lead to Braun needing more time to recover than originally expected. As discussed here previously at MLB Injury News, Braun's thumb injury has been...

Brewers endure all-around disappointment in ugly loss

The Milwaukee Brewers and Houston Astros entered 2013 with completely different expectations, but now have very similar records. Houston was completely committed to rebuilding, while the Brewers had postseason hopes. After Houston's 10-1 rout over Milwaukee on Tuesday -- the first meeting between the two teams since the Astros left the National League Central -- the Brewers...

Gruman: Shame if Carlos Gomez isn't an All-Star

MILWAUKEE -- A few months ago, I tried to sell everyone on how Carlos Gomez's new contract with the Milwaukee Brewers was going to be a steal for the team. I've been a believer in Gomez for quite some time, confident his breakout season was coming. It was just a matter of time. But, Carlos Gomez an All-Star? Well, maybe down the road. He's always had that kind of potential...

Milwaukee looks to finish strong in Houston

Based on his history at Minute Maid Park, Yovani Gallardo would appear to be in good position to continue his recent success. Riding a two-game scoreless stretch, the right-hander tries to win in Houston for the fourth straight time and help the Milwaukee Brewers record a winning road trip Thursday against the Astros. Gallardo (6-6, 4.41 ERA) has allowed seven hits over 14 scoreless...

Brewers look to keep building momentum in Houston

Improved pitching has provided a recent spark for the Milwaukee Brewers. The same could be said of the Houston Astros, and in particular Jordan Lyles. The Brewers look for another strong performance on the mound from an unlikely source, while Lyles attempts to continue his impressive stretch in the opener of this three-game set Tuesday night. Milwaukee's starting pitchers...

Ron Roenicke: Milwaukee Brewers owner Mark Attanasio gives manager vote of confidence

Amid a disappointing season for the Milwaukee Brewers, principal owner Mark Attanasio did what most people in his position do when addressed about their team’s struggles, he gave manager Ron Roenicke a vote of confidence. Speaking to Fox Sports on Wednesday, Attanasio said that Roenicke’s job was safe until the end of the season. But how often have we heard that before and the...

Told Yu So: Deal with it, Doug

IMPORTANT FACT COURTESY OF FRIEND OF THE BLOG @ATMEILLER Since May 8th, 36 games, 125 plate appearances, Yuniesky Betancourt's OPS is .382. .382 is Buster Posey's career OBP. Jeff Bianchi continues to rot away on the bench while Runnin Ron plays the single worst player in MLB every day at multiple positions. Fire Ron Roenicke. Lost in the shuffle of Scootermania, Gallardo...

Brewers owner: Roenicke's job is safe

Milwaukee Brewers owner Mark Attanasio said Wednesday that manager Ron Roenicke is not in danger of losing his job despite the team's disappointing season. Speaking at the Major League Baseball Diversity Business Summit, Attanasio told FOX Sports that Roenicke will remain in his position through the end of the season. "We've had a lot of success under Ron," Attanasio...

'Bad' loss finishes off Brewers' losing road trip

BY ANDREI GRESKAFOXSportsWisconsin.com Looking to close out the nine-game road trip on a positive note, the Milwaukee Brewers managed to do just the opposite, giving up an eighth-inning lead before falling to Houston 7-4 in the 10th inning off a three-run walk-off from Carlos Pena. "Defensively we gave them a couple of runs early. Offensively we obviously didn't do the...
