Last night, the NCAA officially ruled that UCLA transfer Eddie Vanderdoes would be eligible to play during the 2013 season for the Bruins. The decision has left Notre Dame fans irate – as Vanderdoes signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Irish. Well, it doesn’t look like Notre Dame’s coach is too thrilled about the ruling either. Here’s what Brian Kelly had to say in a statement, via Eric Hansen of the South Bend Tribune. #NotreDame coach Brian Kelly’s statement on the Eddie Vanderdoes ruling: “While I disagree with yesterday’s decision by the … — Eric Hansen (@hansenNDInsider) July 31, 2013 … NCAA National Letter of Intent Appeals Committee to reverse its original ruling and grant Eddie Vanderdoes a complete release … — Eric Hansen (@hansenNDInsider) July 31, 2013 … from his NLI, I understand and respect the entire appeal process. However, this result does not change my opinion concerning … — Eric Hansen (@hansenNDInsider) July 31, 2013 … the importance of protecting the integrity of the NLI program, nor will it change our approach to the process going forward.” — Eric Hansen (@hansenNDInsider) July 31, 2013 Not shocking, given that Vanderdoes burned the Irish in this situation. Is Kelly right to complain, or should he just move on?
