VICKERS BEHIND THE WHEEL FOR HAMLIN IN TEXAS: Not only will Brian Vickers be piloting his familiar yellow and black No. 20 Dollar General Nationwide Series car this weekend, but the 29-year-old will also be at the helm of Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 11 Sprint Cup Series car. Vickers was elected to fill the seat of the No. 11 Camry at Texas Motor Speedway when his teammate, Denny Hamlin, was sidelined with a back injury that was the result of an accident during the Cup Series race at Auto Club Speedway on March 24.
VICKERS’ SPECIAL VISIT TO VOLUNTEER STATE: In conjunction with Dollar General’s annual Race Day at their headquarters in Goodlettsville, Tenn. on March 27, Vickers joined Joe and J.D. Gibbs for a visit to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. They signed autographs for patients and their families throughout the facility. Dollar General is a proud supporter of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and the company’s chairman and CEO Rick Dreiling serves as the hospital’s chairman of the board.
DG TEAMS SHOW SUPPORT FOR AUTISM AWARENESS: For the month of April, Dollar General and Joe Gibbs Racing will recognize National Autism Awareness Month by sporting the Autism Speaks blue puzzle piece logo on the c-posts of their Dollar General Toyotas. In their efforts to raise awareness, Dollar General is offering customers the opportunity to make donations to Autism Speaks during store check-out throughout the month of April.

From the Cockpit:
Brian Vickers: “I really enjoy going out to Texas. I try to go in early and leave late. I love racing at Texas and the culture there. The track is something special. I have had some good races there. I would say the track owes me, but I have learned the hard way that no track owes you anything.”
“It’s going to be a full weekend at Texas with me running the DG Nationwide car and filling in for Denny in the No. 11 on the Cup side. First off, I hate it for Denny. I know how it feels. I have been in his position. I know what it’s like to have something like this pulled away from you and it’s tough. This time I’m on the other end of the stick. I am very thankful that JGR provided me with this opportunity and I want to make the most of it for Denny, the team and everyone involved.”
From the Pit Box:
Kevin Kidd: “Texas is a fast 1.5 mile track that offers unique challenges. The transitions into the banking are flatter than most intermediate tracks. The asphalt at Texas is nice and worn in now. It’s a great surface that provides tire wear and true strategy. We love Friday night racing. It gives us a chance to be in primetime and under the lights. We are looking to be strong competitors this weekend. Wins and good points days are high on the agenda right now.”
