One of two suspended Denver Broncos executives can return to work this week after serving a monthlong punishment.
Tom Heckert, the team's director of pro personnel, will be allowed back at team headquarters Thursday. Director of player personnel Matt Russell is serving an indefinite suspension.
John Elway's top two advisers, Heckert and Russell were arrested and jailed on suspicion of drunken driving in separate incidents within a month of each other this summer, resulting in the biggest black eye for the organization since a videotape scandal cost former coach Josh McDaniels his job in 2010.
Heckert, 46, was arrested June 11 in Parker, just 36 days after Elway hired the former GM of the Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns.

Week 2. You can almost taste the street hot dogs and feel the quasi-excitement, right? Anyway, the Browns face the Detroit Lions this week in the always important Great Lakes Classic. The Lions are a regular season opponent this year, but, as always, the preseason game against them is a huge deal for both the organization and the fans.
Alright, that’s all the sarcasm I can muster...
Britton Colquitt spent close to an hour with his wife and their 1-year-old son in one of the corporate tents at the Denver Broncos headquarters following practice Monday.
The NFL's new highest-paid punter swears he wasn't being a snob. He just didn't realize he was keeping a throng of reporters waiting for him at the podium.

The Denver Broncos finished the 2012 season with a 13-3 record before losing to the Baltimore Ravens in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs.
The Broncos had a very busy offseason, brining in Pro Bowl receiver Wes Welker, guard Louis Vasquez, defensive tackle Terrence Knighton, cornerbacks Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Quentin Jammer, and pass rusher Shaun Phillips.
The Denver Broncos began the game against the San Francisco 49ers with Peyton Manning on the field for just one series. He finished just 2 for 4 with 13 yards. Another key player who was missing for most of the game was Wes Welker, who only hit the field for the opening driving. It's only preseason; Welker will have his time to shine. Despite the lack of first-string players...
All-Pro linebacker Von Miller missed the final day of the Denver Broncos' training camp Thursday to address his looming suspension for violating the NFL's drug-abuse policy.
ESPN reported midway through practice, however, that Miller's appeals hearing had been postponed.

If there was a way to stress how early it is, trust me, I would.I mean, if football kicks off at 1 p.m. on the east coast on Sunday's, it's basically Thursday afternoon. What I'm trying to say, dear reader, is that it's very, very early. We have 12 quarters left of football action, and plenty of practices and 7-on-7 drills to really shake things up.That still doesn...
