Found June 07, 2013 on Boston Sports Media Watch:
The Bruins look to finish off the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight in game four. Only the most miserable people in existence are bothering to bring up the collapse against the Flyers up 3-0 back in 2010. A couple quick things today as I wrap up a very busy real world week. (rollout of a Shortel VOIP for 130 users) Keith Olbermann back to baseball — his ‘passion’ - Chad Finn looks at the new gig for the former SportsCenter anchor, and also has Jerry Remy admitting that it is something a bit more series than allergies that are keeping off of NESN right now. I understand completely Remy’s desire for privacy when it comes to his health, and wish him nothing but the best with it. But I get a little annoyed that statements that come out from Remy and NESN are often later found out to be false. It’s happened several times now. It makes it so that whenever he misses time, the worst is going to be assumed, and I’m sure that’s not what all involved want. Boston Bruins bias lies in the eye of the b...

Tuukka Rask Answers Closeout Questions With Dominant Performance Against Penguins

BOSTON — We can stop with those silly questions now when it comes to Tuukka Rask. Facing arguably the best offense in hockey today, Rask turned in perhaps the greatest four-game stretch of his life with another shutout win in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference final. In the process, Rask hopefully quieted some of the nay-sayers when it comes to his ability to close out a series....

Report: Gregory Campbell has broken leg, done for season

It was one of the most inspiration moments of the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs but, unfortunately for Gregory Campbell, it will also be his last. During the second period of last night’s Game 3 in Boston, Campbell hit the deck to block an Evgeni Malkin slapshot and wound up taking a puck hard off the side of the leg. Despite appearing seriously injured, Campbell stayed on the ice...

Gregory Campbell Puts Himself, This Year’s B’s Among Big Bad, Bruins With Game 3 Performance

Gregory Campbell‘s season appears to be over after he blocked a rocket off the stick of Evgeni Malkin. His teammates were grateful but nowhere near surprised Wednesday night that Soupy sacrificed his body on the ice for his team. What should also be understood about this play is that Campbell blocked a shot during a tie game against the best team in the East during the second period...

Boston Bruins Gregory Campbell has broken leg

Boston Bruins forward Gregory Campbell sustained a broken right leg during the second period of Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals on Wednesday when he was hit by a slap shot by the Penguins’ Evgeni Malkin. Campbell was unable to get off the ice because the Penguins controlled the puck, so he endured the pain for 45 seconds before heading to the locker room. He will be out...

Tuukka Rask Stopped 53 Shots In 95 Minutes During Bruins 2OT Win

A.B. 53 saves on 54 shots. Over 95 minutes of total ice time. Rask looked first-period-fresh even deep into the second OT. Pittsburgh fans can ***** and moan all they want about hitting the post multiple times, but Rask was in position. Not every puck that hits iron was going in the net. The old addage is that it takes a hot goaltender to win the Stanley Cup. Crosby and Malking are...

Something special Bruin in Boston

The Boston Bruins aren't fancy. The Pittsburgh Penguins are. So, fancy that the Bruins devoured the Penguins in the Eastern Conference finals. They finished a four-game sweep with a 1-0 victory Friday night in Boston. The victory completed one of the most dominant series in NHL playoff history. For instance, defenseman Paul Martin led the Penguins with two points. Those would...

Bruins’ Adam McQuaid scores on laser slapshot

During Game 4 of the Pittsburgh Penguins-Boston Bruins series, Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid scored off this amazing shot.  It was a lazy line change by the Penguins and so McQuaid found himself wide open when he entered the zone.  Brad Marchand showed exceptional patience, turning towards the boards and waiting to hit a wide-open McQuaid.  McQuaid’s shot was absolutely perfect...

Bruins Sweep Penguins With Second Shutout of ECF

Zero.   Zero goals scored by Penguins players.  Zero goals (and points for that matter) scored combined by Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Jerome Iginla, James Neal and Kris Letang.  Zero words heard by Tuukka Rask in Coach Julien's pre game speech Rask said in a post game interview that he didn't listen.  Zero doubt that Rask has silenced every critic of his in Boston...

The Abrasive Bruins

from Tony Gallagher of the Vancouver Province, There is considerable similarity between the Boston Bruins in these playoffs and Broad Street Bullies of old in that they approach the game with virtually the same theory with respect to the officiating, whether they know it or not. Hear us out here — don’t go jumping off the handle. This isn’t to say the Bruins are picking...

QUICK CAP: Bruins up 3-0 after Double OT win.

What a game to watch. And what a bitter pill to swallow. The Bruins win the game on goal by Patrice Bergeron with about four minutes left in double OT. The Penguins played this game the right way, but they've left themselves with such little margin for error. The Bruins were just as good. Tuuka Rask no question the player of the game with just over 50 saves.  The Penguins...

Bruins sweep Penguins, advance to Stanley Cup Final

The Boston Bruins defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 1-0 on Friday and swept the teams' Eastern Conference Final series, advancing to the Stanley Cup Final, where they'll face the winner of the Los Angeles-Chicago series (presumably next Wednesday or Friday). I can't help but think that even in the defensive struggle that took place on Friday, somewhat ironically decided...

Bryzgalov’s Future and Trade Rumors

Last night, the Boston Bruins completed their sweep of the Pittsburgh Penguins to conclude the Eastern Conference Finals. They will advance to the Stanley Cup Finals for the second time in three years. In the West, the Blackhawks have the opportunity to eliminate the Kings tonight and join the Bruins. While three teams continue to [...]

Pens Swept In 4 By Boston: Now What...???

((HT: NHL on NBCSN/CBC)) For the first time in over thirty years, the Pittsburgh Penguins have been swept in a playoff series- losing 1-0 in Game 4 in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Boston Bruins. Tuukka Rask only gave up two goals in the four games in the series. And the Pittsburgh Penguins seemed stymied (and that's putting it lightly) when their high-flying offense...

Olbermann to host TBS studio show

Keith Olbermann is getting back into broadcasting to host TBS's postseason baseball studio show, staying away from politics for the moment. Turner Sports said Wednesday that Olbermann will team with Hall of Fame pitcher Dennis Eckersley on its studio show during the baseball playoffs this October. It's a familiar role and corporate home for Olbermann, who hosted baseball...
