The Bruins gave up a 2-0 lead in the third period of Saturday night’s game against the Capitals and lost 3-2 in overtime. Head coach Claude Julien has been known to question his team’s hustle and effort after losses, but Julien praised his team’s energy after Saturday night’s game. The area that was most detrimental in the loss was the B’s penalty kills, which they have struggled with throughout the season. With just one game left before the playoffs start, the Bruins are not dwelling in the past, but have their eyes on their next opponent — the Ottawa Senators. The B’s take on the Sens on Sunday night for a chance to clinch second place in the Northeast Division. Check out the video above to hear what Julien and his players had to say ahead of Sunday’s game.

Who Is the Last Bruin to End a Season With More Penalty Minutes Than Shawn Thornton?

Bruins bruiser Shawn Thornton knows his way around the TD Garden penalty box, but he certainly isn’t the only Bruin who calls the sin bin his home away from home. Because the enforcer missed a handful of games earlier this season, his pugilistic pals had to step up things up in the physicality department and it appears as though ST22 won’t lead the Black and Gold in penalty minutes...

Milan Lucic Was the Last Bruin to End a Season With More Penalty Minutes Than Shawn Thornton

Milan Lucic was the last Bruin to end a regular season with more penalty minutes than Shawn Thornton. Back in the 2008-09 campaign, Lucic logged 136 PIM, compared to Thornton’s 123. Lucic took the honor again this season while spending 75 penalty minutes in the box in the shortened 48-game season. This year, Thornton logged just 60 minutes in the box, despite missing three games...

Dennis Seidenberg Catches Defense Out of Position, Rips Wide Open Shot to Score Equalizer (Video)

The Bruins came from behind to tie the game in thrilling fashion on Sunday night against the Senators. The B’s scored two goals with 18 seconds of one another — one with four seconds left in the second period and one in the opening second of the third period — to give them a shot at the win. The Bruins went on to lose 3-2, but head’s up play by Dennis Seidenberg was crucial...

Bruins’ Heads-Up Transition Play Leads to Andrew Ference Goal (Video)

NESN.com staff will pick the two or three best Amica Coverage Plays of the previous week for games played from Friday night to Thursday night. Voting will begin every Friday morning and conclude on Monday.  The Bruins may have dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to the Capitals on Saturday night, but the team’s alert and quick transition play was something to be proud of. Andrew...

Daniel Paille Earns Love of Bruins Fans for Play This Season, Even If NHL Award Not Forthcoming (Video)

Dougie Hamilton may have won the Bruins’ 7th Man Award in the 2013 season, but if Bruins fans on Twitter had their say, it appears that Daniel Paille would be heading into the playoffs with some extra hardware. That’s the sentiment that NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette uncovered on the Internet as the Bruins wrapped up their regular season against the Ottawa Senators on Sunday night...

A Day in the Life of Shawn Thornton

It is no secret that Shawn Thornton is the greatest man who ever lived. He does more in a day than most of us do in a year. Usually we only get to see him in action during games, but recently Shawn Thornton let us follow him around for a day so we could see what a typical day in his life was like.  It was awesome. After the jump.....A Day in the Life of Shawn "...

Bruins Assign Matt Bartkowski to Providence

The Providence Bruins are getting some reinforcement on the blue line, and it comes just in time for the Calder Cup playoffs. The Boston Bruins announced Friday that defenseman Matt Bartkowski has been assigned to Providence. This comes after Bartkowski appeared in 11 games with the big club after being called up earlier in the season. Bartkowski actually looked pretty good during...

Bruins Eager to ‘Turn Page’ on Disappointing End to Regular Season, Embrace Challenge of Playoff Hockey

BOSTON — TD Garden workers, toward the end of a frantic day that saw two games — one basketball and one hockey — at the busy arena, worked tirelessly Sunday night on the Garden ice. There, just an hour after the Bruins wrapped up their regular season, the arena workers put down the giant “Stanley Cup Playoffs” decal on the ice. It serves as a literal and figurative reminder...

Milan Lucic and Chris Neil Fight

This is my definition of a heavy weight fight between Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic and Ottawa Senators forward Chris Neil. After not being in a fight for 26 games, Lucic has now been in a fight in two out of his last three games. With the fight tonight, Lucic has now accumulated five fighting majors for the season. That is also the sixth fighting major of the year for the...

Dennis Seidenberg Wins Amica Coverage Cam Play of the Week

NESN.com staff will pick the two or three best Amica Coverage Plays of the previous week for games played from Friday night to Thursday night. Voting will begin every Friday morning and conclude on Monday. Dennis Seidenberg wins this week’s Amica Coverage Play of the Week. Check out the winning video below.

Bruins’ Showed Comeback Power Earlier in Year, Scored Two Goals With Goalie Pulled (Video)

The Bruins could have used some of their comeback mojo from earlier in the year in Sunday’s 3-2 loss the Senators. In February the B’s were able to battle a 3-point deficit against the New York Rangers in the third period. They pulled the goalie and were able to score two goals without anyone minding the net behind them. The Bruins’ valiant effort in that matchup is honored...

Bruins Get Familiar Foe in First-Round Draw Against Toronto, But B’s Aware of Leafs’ Potential

BOSTON — Sorry, Canada. Your dream matchup will have to wait. Hockey fans all over the globe — not just those diehards in America’s hat — couldn’t help but get excited over the prospects of a Toronto-Montreal series in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. However, the Bruins went and screwed that up Sunday night in Boston. The B’s fell to Ottawa 3-2 at...

Bruins’ First-Round Playoff Opponent Still Unknown As Final Game Will Determine Matchups

The Bruins will play hockey on Sunday night at TD Garden against the Ottawa Senators. Where they go from there, though, is still very much up in the air. The B’s-Sens game will be worth a lot more than pride, as the two clubs — as well as Montreal, Toronto, Pittsburgh and the New York Islanders — will all wait for Sunday’s game to see where they’re headed for the first...

Senators-Bruins Preview

The final regular-season game will be a very important one for the Ottawa Senators and Boston Bruins. While the Bruins will be focused on winning the Northeast Division title Sunday night, the visiting Senators have an opportunity to move up a spot and avoid high-powered Pittsburgh in the first round. The regular season was originally scheduled to end Saturday, but this game was...
