The NHL post season is drawing close to the end as only three more games remain in the Stanley Cup Finals. The Boston Bruins had the chance to be up 3-1 in the series going into tonight's game but Chicago beat the Bruins in game four tieing the series 2-2. The Bruins are still in position to hoist the Stanley Cup at home if they win tonight and then again on Monday night. The task would be extremely daunting though because the Bruins and the Blackhawks are so evenly matched. Tonight the Bruins will have to play as hard as they've played all series in order to beat the 'Hawks.1) Chara. Zdeno Chara played awful in game four, perhaps the baddest we've ever seen the big man, and was directly responsible for one of the six goals that Chicago scored. Chara is the leader of the Bruins defense on and off the ice so in general when Chara is bad, the defense is bad. It was evident in game 4 as the majority of Bruins defense men had bad games. If Chara shapes up his defense tha...

Claude Julien optimistic Patrice Bergeron will play in Game 6

Boston Bruins coach Claude Julien is optimistic that Patrice Bergeron will play in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Chicago Blackhawks. Bergeron was taken to the hospital after exiting Game 5 in the second period with an undisclosed injury.  Bergeron flew back with

Bergeron flies home with Bruins

Patrice Bergeron was reportedly released from the hospital on Friday night and flew home with the team. His status remains unknown.

PHT: Whatever happened to Patrice Bergeron didn’t keep him from returning to Boston

Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron suffered some sort of mysterious injury that sidelined him for the second period of Game 5 and forced him to leave the United Center sitting in the back of an ambulance, and Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos reported that Bergeron may have suffered a spleen injury. Pro Hockey Talk's Joe Yerdon was monitoring early-morning Tweets, and he found...

B's Bergeron taken to hospital

Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron was taken to an area hospital for observation during Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final at United Center on Saturday, the organization confirmed. The team didn't provide any further details and Bruins coach Claude Julien was similarly short on info minutes after the Blackhawks earned a 3-1 victory to take a 3-2 series lead. "It was an...

Blackhawks Fan Brings Sign to Stanley Cup Final Calling Tuukka Rask ‘Sieve’ in Finnish (Photo)

Tuukka Rask has been strong in goal for the Bruins all playoffs, but that isn’t stopping Blackhawks fans from doing their best to get inside the Finnish goaltender’s head. One enterprising fan at the United Center on Saturday night brought a sign to the Madhouse on Madison calling Rask a “Seula.” That translates from Finnish to English as “hockey sieve,” according to...

Bruins, Rask fall with late flop

The Boston Bruins and goalie Tuukka Rask were less than 80 seconds away from a seventh game of the Stanley Cup Final. Then it all fell apart. Bryan Bickell beat Rask with 1:16 left to tie the game, Dave Bolland did it again with 59 seconds to go and the Chicago Blackhawks pulled off a stunning comeback for a 3-2 win on Monday night and their second Stanley Cup championship in four...

Blackhawks vs. Bruins: Game 5 preview

Before Monday’s game I had written an article previewing Game 4. It listed the keys to success for each team ( Let’s check out how each team did on their respective checklists, and what they can improve on for the remainder of the series. Chicago’s checklist  Increase the tempo of the game. Chicago did...

Game 5 SCF Open Post

The Boston Bruins are in Chicago and will play the Blackhawks tonight with the puck drop just after 8:00pm ET. After tonight, will the Bruins be traveling back to Boston for game 6 knowing a win will secure the Cup or will it be Chicago trying to wrap up the series? We should know what Monday will bring us between 10:30pm and midnight tonight. Tonight's game can be viewed...

Hurt But Not Forgotten

Gregory Campbell will not once suit up for the Boston Bruins during the Stanley Cup Finals. Should the Bruins win, he will not get to take the legendary lap around the rink, with Lord Stanley’s Cup raised high above his head. But Campbell’s sacrifice, ability to play through pain, and will to win are a huge reason the Bruins championship dreams are still alive. Campbell suited...

Key injuries might leave huge holes

Jonathan Toews is "doing much better." Patrice Bergeron is "day-to-day." The questions about Marian Hossa and Nathan Horton have subsided, even though both are likely still hurting. Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final could come down to which team is healthier Monday night at TD Garden, although -- as is often the case this time of year -- it's difficult to judge...

Bruins have big fan in Ray Charles, the blind golden retriever

I'm sure that Ray Charles will be tuned in to Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals tonight, cheering on his beloved Bruins. I'm not sure that he'll be able to see any of it, though. No, not because he's dead. Because he's blind. Obviously, I am not speaking of the Ray Charles that you are thinking of. I am speaking of Ray Charles, the blind golden retriever. Featured...

Johnny Boychuk won’t face suspension for hit on Jonathan Toews

It appears that Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk won’t face a suspension from the NHL as a result of the devastating hit he laid on Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews during Saturday’s Game 5 in Chicago. According to TSN’s Darren Dreger, the league has reviewed Boychuk’s hit and decided that it did not warrant a disciplinary ruling. Boychuk himself stated after the game that...

Bruins-Blackhawks Live: Series Heads Back to Chicago for Pivotal Game 5

11 a.m. ET: Four games have been played in the Stanley Cup Final, and we don’t know much of anything, other than these two teams are very good and they’re evenly matched. The Bruins and Blackhawks have played four games so far, and each team has two wins. Each team has one a game at home and a game on the road. Each team is just two wins away from the Cup, as Saturday night marks...

UCLA Advances to CWS Finals

The Bruins did it again with good pitching, stellar defense and timely hitting, beating #1-ranked North Carolina, 4-1, Friday to advance to the College World Series Finals...

John Jaeckel: The Better Team Is Winning (Part 2)

Follow me @jaeckel Much has been made in the media of Jonathan Toews and Bryan Bickell saying that they are going after Zdeno Chara, and how they are tempting fate, etc. But here's the thing, the Hawks are going fearlessly to the tough areas of the ice for a change (from Games 2 and 3 at least) and Boston doesn't like it. It is throwing them off their game. Hawk forwards...
