The Wolverines’ only wins over teams that made bowls came on Sept. 7 (Notre Dame) and Oct. 5 (Minnesota). Meanwhile, Kansas State opened its season with a home loss to North Dakota State. The Wildcats were 2-4 before finishing strong, though their only win over a bowl-eligible team in a 5-1 close came vs. Texas Tech.
