Mississippi State stood toe to toe with the two defending national champions, Alabama. The Bulldogs were unable to pull off the upset, but the Mississippi State coaching staff reeled in a pair of pledges for the future that should help their efforts down the road.

The Game: Mississippi State (4-5, 1-4 SEC) is back home after two weeks on the road, and opposite ends of the SEC, to host #1 Alabama (9-0, 6-0). Kickoff is 6:45 with the local pregame broadcast beginning three hours prior, and full MSU Network joining two hours prior.
Mississippi State hosted five official visitors this weekend. Perhaps the biggest surprise of the weekend was getting four star defensive end Trey Carter on campus after he had previously planned to visit Oklahoma. From the sound of things, the Bulldogs have made a huge move.

Jocquell Johnson has been committed to Mississippi State for several months, but the talented offensive lineman reports that he has never been more committed to being a Bulldog than he is today. Johnson took his official visit to Starkville over the course of the weekend and it appears things went extremely well.
