Saints running back Travaris Cadet knows he has to hold on to the football. Cadet fumbled twice in the Saints' 28-20 preseason win against the Oakland Raiders last Friday. Neither cost the Saints on the scoreboard, but coach Sean Payton was not pleased. Cadet made the team last year as an undrafted rookie from Appalachian State. He is trying to secure a roster spot in the backfield with veterans Mark Ingram, Pierre Thomas and Darren Sproles. Cadet has rushed for 35 yards on 18 carries, caught two passes for 22 yards and returned two punts for 21 yards in the preseason. His chief competition is Khiry Robinson, an undrafted rookie from West Texas A&M, who leads the team in rushing with 102 yards and also caught four passes for 43 yards. The Saints (2-0) play the Texans (2-0) on Sunday. --- AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org

Sean Payton and Drew Brees are ready to explode for huge numbers this season. Final Fantasy QB Rankings.

The Saints showed last season just how valuable the Head Coach can be, especially when he runs the offense.  Even with the chaos in NO last season, Drew Brees lead all QB in Fantasy points. Do you think he's going to take a step backwards this year? Drew Brees - Consistently at the top of the QB rankings.  Look for an explosion with the return of Payton calling...

WR Nick Toon fits the ‘big’ receiver role: ‘Obviously Marques is a guy that I will naturally be compared to’

New Orleans Saints WR Nick Toon keeps hearing the comparisons, Marques Colston, Vincent Jackson, and his father Al. His father, Al Toon, was a former track star and receiver for the New York Jets from 1985-92. He was a three-time All-Pro and the 1986 AFC Player of the Year. Now, Nick is looking to develop his own identity as he tries to secure a roster spot on the team.

Saints Nation: Bryce Harris Has Thrust Himself Into Primary Backup Blocker Role

Bryce Harris looked poor in his incredibly short stint on the field last season. Put simply, he wasn't ready, and when he came in to replace an injured right tackle in Charles Brown he didn't perform well against the Raiders. The following week against the 49ers, he started and sustained an injury that would cost him the season on the Saints' opening drive. Easy to think...

Sean Payton is still angry, and that makes the Saints a dangerous team

Sean Payton is mad. And this makes the Saints dangerous. Whether they are 10-6-with-a-playoff-win dangerous or Super Bowl dangerous is TBD dependent on variables not yet in evidence — such as how far away from a hot mess this Saints defense travels in a year and Drew Brees' ability to be Drew Brees-ish yet again. New Orleans definitely is dangerous though in the way teams...

Saints' success may hinge on Rob Ryan's defense

The success of the Saints season hinges in large part on how much improvement this new Rob Ryan defense can make. So far, the first line of attack, the talented defensive line is showing promise to be something special. The renaissance of the worst defense in the league starts up front, with the 3 men responsible for the initial push against opposing offenses. When veteran left...

Can Payton channel his anger?

Saints Nation: Roger Goodell Being Roger Goodell

ESPN has dropped out of a long standing investigation and story on concussions in the NFL. It's being reported that they caved to the NFL's pressure to cease their involvement, despite public denials from ESPN and the NFL on that topic. And of course, Roger Goodell is at the center of the controversy.   Midtown lunch meeting w/Goodell led ESPN to pull out of...

49ers Sign QB Seneca Wallace After Being Released From Saints

The Forty Niners wasted little time at all snatching up Seneca Wallace following his release from the New Orleans Saints on Monday. This isn’t shocking as the backups to Colin Kaepernick have been underwhelming thus far. Colt McCoy and Scott Tolzien have a combined 3 INTs and no touchdowns in the preseason. Seneca will at the very least push McCoy but I don’t think he will make...

2013 Fantasy Football Draft Tips: The Pros and Cons of Drafting Just One Quarterback

If you draft a QB like Drew Brees, do you really need to draft another one?   As we head into the third full week of NFL Preseason football, I’ve started to notice a new trend taking place amongst fantasy football drafts: Owners starting off the season with only one quarterback on the roster. While this isn’t something new, I’ve seen this sparingly in the past while answering...

Saints Nation: Five Things to Look for in Saints at Texans

Preseason game number three is on the docket for tomorrow as we inch closer to hosting the Atlanta Falcons on September 8th. There's been a lot of buzz and excitement about the Saints' performance in preseason thus far against very mediocre football teams... and that's putting it nicely for the Raiders. As I type this they are currently down 24-0 to the Bears with Matt...

49ers add QB Seneca Wallace to roster

The San Francisco 49ers added quarterback Seneca Wallace to their roster on Thursday. Wallace, 33, was recently cut by the New Orleans Saints. The late addition of Wallace does not ensure him of making the 49ers final roster but rather gives the team another option to consider for the job of backing up Colin Kaepernick. By all accounts, Colt McCoy and Scott Tolzien have struggled...
