PLAYERS: Calvin Johnson
TEAMS: Detroit Lions
Whatever your feelings on Calvin Johnson‘s social politics, you have to give the man credit for one thing: He’s willing to put his money where his mouth is. It’s a lengthy piece, and well worth the read, but it also includes at least one hidden nugget that tells us something new about the Detroit Lions’ star receiver. According to the article, Johnson is helping to fund a movie with a strong pro-abstinence message called Real Love. What’s more is that Johnson doesn’t expect to make any profit from his efforts, but is just hoping to break even and get the message out to the public. “It’s a message he wants to get out there,” said Corey Galloway, who is helping Johnson in an adviser’s role. “Our goal on the film is just to get our money back.” The New Republic describes the film as “a coming-of-age story about a girl t

Burleson sees potential in Patrick Edwards

ALLEN PARK, Mich. One of the top position battles for the Detroit Lions this off-season is the receiver spot to replace Titus Young, who was released four months ago. Veteran Nate Burleson believes the replacement quite possibly will be Patrick Edwards, who was signed as an undrafted free agent a year ago but was injured and spent last season on the practice squad. Patrick Edwards...

Detroit Lions Select Guard Larry Warford in Third Round

3.03 Detroit Lions Larry Warford, G, Kentucky (6’3″, 332) Warford is a solid guard who has great pass protection skills to go along with his mostly solid technique. Warford is the type of player that will give you 110% on every play, a type of guy that the Lions sorely needed. He might be able to step in right away and earn some playing time. He is considered as a value pick...

Lions DT Ndamukong Suh Next In Line For An Extension?

As things stand right now, Lions DT Ndamukong Suh carries a cap figure of $21 million for the 2014 season. He still has two years and $24 million remaining on his rookie deal, so it would make sense for the Lions to consider a contract extension at some point in the next year. “I’m two years away from even considering those things, but to be honest with you I’d love to be...

David Akers Struggling in OTAs with Lions

Lions kicker David Akers has done very little during the team's OTAs.Fantasy Spin:Akers was the top fantasy kicker after booting 44 field goals in 2011-12, but slumped last season and some of that was due to an aggravation of offseason surgery. He's hoping to be completely healthy before he starts kicking. Be very waryl of picking Akers until you know he's 100 percent healthy.
