FootBasket:
The BCS National Championship game is set. Notre Dame will take on Alabama to be the declared No. 1 college football team in the country. However, we will have to wait about a month until the big game happens.
With that, we have all this time to analyze of what we are about to see. For almost the past decade, all of the winners of the BCS National Championship game were SEC teams. The Crimson Tide have already won twice and are looking for their third in four years.
However, can the Fighting Irish break the curve? Can they stop the streak of SEC teams winning the National Championship. With how their season has been going this year, I they they are able to get the job done.
It’s been an interesting season for the Irish. Many people doubted them, but they worked their way up to being undefeated and now the No. 1-ranked team in the country. Can they get the job done against Alabama?
A lot of fans and analysts think they can’t. All the arguments basically point back to being that Alabama is an SEC team and that they will destroy the independent program that is the Fighting Irish. However, we have been saying that all year. Who’s to say that Notre Dame can’t prove everyone wrong once again?
They have been full of surprises all year, and I think they are able to bring another one again come Jan. 7. This season has been too magical to come to a close like this if it is a loss.
Alabama has shown several signs that they can be beaten. Georgia was very close towards making it happen on Saturday in the SEC title game, but their defense couldn’t hang on in the second half. LSU almost came close as well a few weeks back, but their defense couldn’t come up either.
The only team that could do it was Texas A&M, led by, of course, Johnny Manziel. Notre Dame can be that time. Like Johnny Football, they have been about that life this year. Their defense is strong, led by Manti Te’o.
The big key is keeping the defense strong throughout the whole game. Stopping the run is the biggest key. The Tide were able to rack up 350 rushing yards over the Bulldogs defense, which is what helped them rally late in the game that set up a play-action touchdown pass to give them the win.
The Fighting Irish can’t let that happen to them. With all of this, I can think they are able to get the job done. They’ll be ready. They can prove the SEC-myth wrong, and they can finally stop the streak. All of them must come to an end sooner or later.
I have them as my pick for the BCS National Championship.

Five Reasons Notre Dame Football Deserves Your Respect
The Irish weren’t a unanimous choice in the coaches balloting, and they weren’t even a top 3 team in one coach’s eyes. Three voters — Middle Tennessee’s Rick Stockstill, Texas Tech’s Tommy Tuberville and Vanderbilt’s James Franklin — had Alabama as the No. 1 team in the land. That much will be settled on Jan. 7 when the Crimson Tide and Irish meet for the BCS title...
