The Miami Hurricanes recruited one of the best offensive line classes in 2014.  The Canes intend to keep the momentum going in the 2015 class.  In one of the fastest recruiting starts, Miami has already offered scholarships to incredible 56 offensive linemen. With all those offers, one would think there might be clarity as to who are the top targets.  Yet, of all the position groups, the O-Line is foggiest.  The board seems to change each week.  Part of the challenge is that Florida is not deep in talent on the offensive line this year.  The Canes have had to go outside the “state of Miami” to find talent. Since our last report, the Canes offered 7 additional OL scholarships, receiving a verbal commitment from OT Hayden Mahoney.  I’m projecting two additional scholarship slots available.  Who gets them? Verbal Commitments: OT Kevin Feder (NJ) OG Leeward Brown (FL) OT Hayden Mahoney (PA)   “Top of the Board” | Offensive Line | April 17 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ OT Christian Pellage | Brooksville, FL Christian is our new top-of-the-board leader for the Canes offensive line.  Pellage is a quality prospect from the state of Florida, which is not deep this year at offensive line. At this time, Christian has Miami in his top tier of schools.  The Canes will have a battle with FSU, Florida and USF for Pellage’s signature in February.  However, he has already visited the UM campus once and hopefully, the Canes can get him back for a few more visits. Plays with very good athleticism to move on his feet and redirect in space. Can get out of stance and quickly work to second level when uncovered. Does a good job of moving laterally and may be an effective zone blocker at the next level. … Lacks a great power base to consistently gain movement off the line of scrimmage. Will get into position but plays high and will mostly position block when working to get vertical. Pass set ability is still developing. Relies on athleticism rather than technique. .. Pellage is a prospect with some upside but physical development is needed for the next level of competition. May get some looks from BCS schools with added size. SCOUTING REPORT: [source:] Going into to this past season this is one kid that you knew could potentially blow up. That’s exactly what happened with Pellage. His offer list will no worse than double between now and May. He has enormous size, length, and good feet. Pellage has flexibility and shows the ability to be adept in both run blocking and in pass pro. He just needs to continue to work on his technique and filling out his frame. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ OT Bar Milo | West Hills, CA HT: 6’-6” | WT: 300 | 40: | Rating: 91 | Rank: #25 OT Camp: NO | UV: NO | OV: NO | VC: [date] Offers: [10] | Current Leaders: Miami | Ariz. | Cal | Wash video: Bar Milo – - Hudl – Hudl Forecast: FAIR SCOUTING REPORT: 4/16/14 [source: ESPN] Sound tackle prospect with very good upper and lower body playing strength. Possesses a massively-built frame. Shows good short-space balance and quickness. Picks up movement and stunts very well. Gains leverage with his length. Uses bulk and hands to explode into defenders. … Lacks great ankle flexion. Tends to play a bit high when run blocking. Needs footwork polish in his pass protection technique. …  Milo is a big and versatile player at the tackle position. Plays with high intensity and a finisher’s attitude. He is slightly behind the curve in pass protection but there will not be a steep learning curve in our opinion two years from now. He reminds us a lot of Ole Miss OT Laremy Tunsil who had similar rawness, but awesome talent base. The reason why Hyatt is slightly above Ivey right now is purely due to technique and polish. Large framed offensive lineman with impressive athleticism. Demonstrates very good height, weight and strength to develop at the guard or tackle position. Frame should continue adding bulk making guard more of his likely spot in college. Has very long arms and a good reach. Keeps his balance well, has good feet and can extend in pass protection and protect the edge. Flashes a quick first step to quickly gain an advantage on the defender as a run blocker. … Needs to improve his playing strength, particularly if he slides inside. Pad level is inconsistent. Shows difficulty at times picking up movement at the second level. … Ivey is a high-motor, high-effort player with good versatility in the trenches. A high school guard who could slide outside to tackle with refinement. Moves very well for a player his size and has a lot of upside. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Others to watch: OG Garrett Thomas | Many, LA OG Tyler Higby | Houston, TX OG Shane Lemieux | Yakima, WA OT Brandon Knight | Noblesville, IN OG/DT Brandon Tiassum | Indianapolis, IN.
