For the second day in a row, the Cardinals were completely humiliated by the Phillies. In yesterday's game, the horrible relief pitching of the Redbirds handed the game to Philadelphia. Today, St. Louis' worst starting pitcher was outmatched and overpowered, as they were soundly beaten 9-2. In both games, a team that seemed invincible a couple of days ago was blown out. Evidently, this baseball Titanic is not as difficult to sink as we initially thought. Todd Wellemeyer gave yet another predictably crappy performance in this game, allowing seven runs in just under six innings of work, including three home runs. He only got three strikeouts in the game. When a pitcher's strikeout total in a game is the same as his total home runs allowed, that means he really stinks, and shouldn't be pitching for a contending Major League baseball team.
