It's only been a couple of seasons since the St. Louis Cardinals were in the World Series (2011) and after Tuesday night the Red Birds moved within a game of returning. So yes, they do have a pretty good reason to be happy and goof off a little. A three-run third inning put the  Cardinals ahead early in Game Four of the NLCS Tuesday night and it turned out to be a lead they would never give up.  The Dodgers close the gap to 3-2 thanks to RBI-singles by Yasiel Puig and A.J. Ellis, but Shane Robinson hit a solo shot in the 7th to give the Cardinals a little more breathing room. Cardinals one game away from World Series

The Cardinals are one game away from heading to the World Series after last night's 4-2 triumph over the Dodgers. However, the team needs to stay focused and continue to do what they're doing in order to succeed in their ultimate goal, lest we forget what happened last year. As you recall, the Cardinals were in the same position last year, up 3-1 against the San Francisco...

Freese to start for Cardinals after leg cramp

David Freese is in the lineup for St. Louis against Los Angeles in Game 4 of the NL championship series. The third baseman left the fifth inning of Game 3 on Monday night with tightness in his right calf after he appeared to tweak his calf on a swing. He had just singled for the Cardinals' first hit of the game. Manager Mike Matheny said Freese had more of a cramp than anything...

Carlos Beltran would go to Yankees

Carlos Beltran could be headed back to The Big Apple. Citing multiple sources, the New York Daily News' Mark Feinsand reports that Beltran "would strongly consider" an offer that would bring him back to New York -- but this time to play outfield for the Yankees. Beltran, who will turn 37 in April, is reportedly intrigued by the possibility of playing in the cozy right...

Allen Craig injury update: Cardinals 1B takes batting practice

The Cardinals hope that Craig will be able to return if they reach the World Series. St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Allen Craig took batting practice during the team's workout Sunday at Dodger Stadium reports Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com. Craig had not participated in outdoor batting practice since injuring his left foot on Sept. 4. He had taken swings off a tee during the...

Who better to pitch today than Joe Kelly? Nobody

LOS ANGELES -- Three quick observations on the Cardinals and the National League Championship Series. THE IDEAL STARTER Joe Kelly has pitched only twice at Dodger Stadium, the Cardinals lost both games and he didn't pitch well. But he's still the ideal guy to start Game 5 of the NL Championship Series this afternoon at Dodger Stadium. Of course, you could say the same...

Adam Wainwright: Adrian Gonzalez heckled me at third base

Adam Wainwright cleared up a misunderstanding regarding his issues with Adrian Gonzalez’s “Mickey Mouse” behavior during Game 3 on Monday night, explaining that he wasn’t annoyed with a celebration, but with Gonzalez heckling him. LBS and many other outlets incorrectly believed Wainwright was annoyed with the way Gonzalez celebrated his RBI double to put the […]

Cardinals’ Adam Wainwright Accidentally Tosses Bat Into Cameraman Section of Dodgers Dugout (GIF)

Adam Wainwright didn’t bring his “A” game to the mound or the batter’s box on Monday night. During his at-bat in the sixth inning of Game 3 of the NLCS against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Cardinals’ starting pitcher accidentally tossed his bat into the cameramen section after fouling off a pitch.  Wainwright would eventually ground out to third for the first out of the...

Matheny makes all the right moves in Game 4 of NLCS

LOS ANGELES -- If the Cardinals were passing out postseason game balls ala 2006, they would have had no shortage of worthy candidates from their 4-2 victory over the Dodgers Tuesday night. There was Matt Holliday with a monster two-run homer that all parties agreed traveled much farther than the estimated 426 feet. There was Shane Robinson and his pinch-hit homer that provided an...

More Than Devil Magic Pushing the Cardinals to Victory

In the brief interludes between arguing whether the Cardinals do indeed have “the best fans in baseball” and if they should or should not be offended by Yasiel Puig, a popular discussion topic on social media has centered on St. Louis’ so-called “Cardinals Devil Magic,” i.e., the sense that everything always seems to go the Cardinals’ way in October. Setting aside the...

On the count of four, let's see those Cardinal bats WAKE UP

LOS ANGELES -- If the pattern holds, the Cardinals' offense will break through Tuesday night. That would be the every-fourth-game pattern, of course. Think about it. The Cardinals opened the postseason with a nine-run outburst against the Pirates. The bats then turned cold for three games. Just in time for Game 5 of the NL Division Series, they woke up and scored six runs....

NLCS GM4: 'He Did What?'

Shane Robinson did what?  Seriously, though. What happened? He did not hit a home run. I looked up Dodger Stadium and it's the 15th hardest park factor in 2013. Next thing you're going to tell me Cal Ripken's mom got held up by gunpoint again.  WHAT? What is going on? The Cardinals **** the bed in GM3 of the NLCS last night. But tonight? Behind the cool...

Should the Mets bring back Beltran

There has been a growing conversation among fans and reporters about the possibility of the Mets bringing back OF Carlos Beltran, although the organizations interest is unknown. Does it make sense for the Mets to bring back one-time fan favorite Carlos Beltran? I sit on the fence with this one, but opt to say yes under certain conditions. First off, there is a group inside the Mets...

Carlos Beltran could be headed back to The Big Apple.
