Found June 06, 2013 on Rockies Review:
Are CarGo and Tulo the best duo in the game?Remember when critics of Carlos Gonzalez said that he was a product of Coors Field?Try finding someone who will be critical of the talent that Gonzalez brings to the Colorado Rockies. They are nowhere to be found. On Wednesday, the left fielder led the Rockies to a big win over a very good Cincinnati Reds team, helping them win a series in a park that is extremely difficult to win in. The Rockies head home for a 10-game homestand, the longest of the 2013 season. The second home run that Gonzalez hit was a laser that landed 479 feet away from home plate near the top of the stands in right-center field. It is the longest home run hit so far in the big leagues in 2013, and amazingly, the longest home run of CarGo's career. Even longer than the walk-off blast he hit in 2010 against the Chicago Cubs to complete his cycle. The home runs led the Rockies to victory, but they also overshadowed the outstanding performance of the rest of the lineup....

MLB Draft: Colorado Rockies Select Jonathan Gray 3rd Overall

The Colorado Rockies had a present gift-wrapped to them in form of right-hander Jonathan Gray from University of Oklahoma. Colorado needs a pitcher that rack up strikeouts, and Gray fits this profile perfectly. One of his best assets is that he is a power pitcher, and his fastball can reach 100 mph. Colorado does not have many good arms in their system, and he could be one of the...

Rockies tee off on rookie pitcher

Carlos Gonzalez arrived early at Great American Ball Park expecting to face Johnny Cueto. He got a little extra practice on his swing, trying to make it faster for one of the toughest pitchers in the majors. The Rockies' home run leader was ready to face the best. Instead, he got a rookie making his first start in the majors, and simply overpowered him. Gonzalez tied his career...

Reds blown out by Rockies

CINCINNATI (AP) --Carlos Gonzalez tied his career high with three of Colorado's six homers, and Troy Tulowitzki went 5 for 5 with a pair of homers Wednesday night, powering the Rockies to a 12-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. The Rockies hadn't hit six homers in a game since they had that many against the Marlins on July 4, 2008, according to STATS LLC. Gonzalez got Colorado...

Padres-Rockies Preview

Carlos Gonzalez and Troy Tulowitzki lifted the Colorado Rockies into sole possession of second place in the NL West. Facing the San Diego Padres could help them make a push for first. Colorado will try to remain undefeated against the Padres this season as these divisional rivals open a four-game series in Denver on Thursday night. Led by three homers and six RBIs from Gonzalez...

Rockies rally to beat Reds 5-4

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Troy Tulowitzki hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning -- a call changed after the umpires initially ruled fan interference -- and the Colorado Rockies held on for a 5-4 victory Tuesday night that ended their streak of six consecutive losses to the Cincinnati Reds. A fan with a glove in left field reached and grabbed Tulowitzki's fly ball off Sam LeCure ...

Umpires blow two calls on same play in Padres-Rockies game (Video)

The San Diego Padres and Colorado Rockies played into extra innings on Thursday night, and the umpiring crew may have determined the outcome of the game. Or maybe they didn’t. Well, they certainly made things more confusing than they had to be. As you can see from the GIF above that GameReax shared with us, [...]

Two umpires blow two calls on same play in Padres-Rockies game (VIDEO))

It’s beginning to look like 2013 is the year of the blown call in Major League Baseball.  Last night’s extra inning game between the Giants and Rockies played up the reputation.  But shockingly, it did not involve umpire Angel Hernandez – who I happen to think is the worst umpire in baseball. With the bases loaded and one out in the top of the 12th inning Thursday night,...

Trot Times for June 5, 2013

It was quite the night for home runs around the league. The Astros socked six home runs from six different players against the Orioles, while the Rockies needed only three players for the same feat (thanks to a trio of blasts from Carlos Gonzalez). Meanwhile, Kyle Seager hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 14th inning to tie the game up. Oh, and Domonic Brown hit another home run...
