On Friday night, the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL brought a real, live condor out to center ice to place on a perch before their game against the Las Vegas Wranglers. Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan, as the condor tried to make a break for it.
Chaos briefly ensued as not only did the condor's handler fall to the ice while trying to grab the wild bird, but the Bakersfield hockey players and coaches scrambled for cover as the condor made its way through their bench.
The condor found its way into the tunnel to the Bakersfield locker room, and we can only presume that he (or she) was caught. Otherwise, Bakersfield residents should be on the lookout for a wild bird on the loose.
