(Eds: APNewsNow. With AP Photos.) By MICHAEL MAROT AP Sports Writer Defensive tackle Josh Chapman and receiver Griff Whalen have been big surprises to Colts' fans this summer.
The Indianapolis hierarchy expected nothing less: Chapman destroying running plays and Whalen catching almost everything.
Both are finally healthy after missing all of last season with injuries. So as the Colts hit the midway point of their three-week training camp, Chapman and Whalen have been breakout stars.
Who else has played well? Coach Chuck Pagano likes the way newcomers such as LaRon Landry and Greg Toler have fit into his defense, likes the progression of second-year tight end Coby Fleener and believes linebacker Josh McNary has made a relatively smooth transition back to football after spending the last two years in the U.S. Army.

Here’s how a typical argument would go between an Andrew Luck proponent and a Luck hater:
- Hater: Luck had the 37th lowest completion percentage out of 38 quarterbacks who took 25% or more of their team’s snaps last year.
- Proponent: True. But no quarterback attempted more throws of 20+ yards than Luck, and those throws...

A few weeks ago, 93-year-old Indianapolis resident Amelia Rudolf was assaulted in her home. The life long Indianapolis Colts fan says the attacks left her questioning her faith in humanity.
There have been conflicting reports from Colts training camp concerning a knee injury suffered by Darrius Heyward-Bey. Originally it was reported that he suffered a grade 1-2 sprain and would be out several weeks, but today reports are indicating that the MRI was negative and he’s day-to-day. Either way, it’s a set back for bringing DHB into the fold with Luck and company....

You knew at some point the comparison was going to come, fair or unfair.
Andrew Luck was the successor to one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever throw a spiral in Peyton Manning, so it was only right that Luck and Manning get mentioned in comparisons.
Who better to make that comparison than the man who’s caught touchdown passes from both players.
Reggie Wayne is the luckiest...

Ever since the Indianapolis Colts drafted Andrew Luck we’ve heard countless comparison to Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning. It’s not really surprise a number one pick replacing the greatest player in franchise history. Yesterday though Reggie Wayne chimed in and also compared Luck to Manning.

Over the last decade, they shared a Super Bowl title, went to four Pro Bowls together, combined for nearly 200 sacks and became one of the NFL's most feared defensive tandems. Freeney taught Mathis the spin move...
