San Diego Chargers linebacker Melvin Ingram suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during organized team activities, the club has announced. Melvin Ingram sustained a torn ACL in his left knee during OTA practice today. No other information was released. — San Diego Chargers (@chargers) May 15, 2013 The severity of the tear is not yet known, but if it is complete he will undergo surgery that will likely sideline him for the entire 2013 season. The Chargers selected Ingram No. 18 overall in last year’s draft. He didn’t show much in his rookie campaign, as he only started one game, totaling 16 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble. San Diego was hoping the linebacker would be able to take a big step forward in 2013. Fellow outside linebackers Shaun Phillips and Antwan Barnes have left the Chargers via free agency, so the team is extremely thin at the position. This could result in the pursuit of one of the remaining veteran options on the open market, including Dwight Freeney or John Abraham. Follow @TheNFLInjuryRpt Looking for fantasy football advice?

Grading the Draft: San Diego Chargers

As Philip Rivers struggled through the 2012 season, so did the Chargers. Placing the blame on Rivers is shortsighted though, as his offensive line struggled to keep him upright, his receivers disappointed or got hurt and the San Diego running game couldn’t get going all season. The Chargers did their best to fix those issues in April’s draft but will it be enough to bring them...
