It was one of the more interesting things about this past season that seemed to get very little attention. With all of the coverage on Dwight Howard and where he might go, it seemed the fact that Clippers point guard Chris Paul was scheduled to be a free agent was flying under the radar. Was it the way CP3 handled it? I’m not sure. While the Dwightmare 2 dragged out once free agency officially opened, Chris let it be known quickly that he was resigning with the Clippers on a 5-year $107 million contract. Per ESPN, Paul wanted to get the free agency thing over and over quickly. “For me, I felt like if I knew where I wanted to be and what I was going to do, why take the time and waste those other teams’ time and have them spending unnecessary money,” Paul said. “We just wanted to be done with it. “I’m excited,” Paul told ESPNLosAngeles.com. “I’m excited about everything that’s going on with the team. I talked to my wife about it because I told her it was going to be a family decision. We even let ‘Little Chris’ chime in on it. It’s pretty cool to know where you’re going to be and to know you’re somewhere where you’re wanted. The fans have been amazing. I told my wife I felt like a rookie all over again just because I’m excited about the unexpected.” When Doc Rivers officially became the Clippers’ new head coach it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that Paul was going to be returning. No indecision, no dragging it out. Quick and to the point. That was probably just a little too much to ask for from somebody with the history of Dwight.
