The Cincinnati Bengals have put together a team with youth, talent, and depth. They have made the playoffs each of the last two years and seem to be a team on the rise.Their offensive and defensive coordinators are returning and they have quality starters and backups at nearly every position. Several of these players are now up for free agency. The Bengals would like to bring many of them back, but, with backups that will be offered starting jobs for other teams, guys coming off injuries, and young players ready to step up and start, keeping every one on board is not a reasonable goal. There are some players, though, that they really shouldn't let get away. Here are the three that I think are most important to their continued success.

Mohamed Sanu the dual threat the Bengals are searching for?

It is normal for rookie wide receivers to struggle; not everyone has a break out season like A.J. Green. Mohamed Sanu showed his versatility and emerged as a red-zone threat when he started to come on late in the season before suffering a stress fracture during practice. Before the injury Sanu had four touchdown catches in the past three weeks and looked to be the dual threat the...

Cincinnati Bengals Mount Rushmore: Four Franchise Icons

If the Cincinnati Bengals were a revered monument, which names and faces would comprise its facade? To answer this question, one must think long and hard about the people who have had the most influence on the franchise over the years. To be sure, Paul Brown would have to be included in the short list of names. But who else would make the cut?No monument is complete without a marquee...

Focus On: Safeties

This position has been more patchwork than plan for too long. It is time the Bengals take a quality safety high in the draft or snatch a guy the way the 49ers swooped in and stole Donte Whitner a couple of years ago. Reggie Nelson: signed through 2015 Reggie had another solid season and proved to be worth wooing back from leaping to the Jets. (Given the Jets season, I’m sure he...
