Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux decided to channel his inner Pavel Datsyuk in the shootout against the New York Islanders on Thursday night. While Datsyuk was dangling Logan Couture, Claude Giroux was busy making Evgeni Nabokov look silly. Unfortunately for Giroux and the Flyers it would be the lone goal in the shootout for them as they lost to the Islanders 4-3. The Flyers have easily been the most disappointing team this year and are currently tied for 2nd to last in the Eastern Conference with only 29 points.
Pavel Datsyuk is the originator of this move, but it has gotten popular in the NHL recently.

You don’t see this happen that often in the NHL, but when it does it is a thing of beauty. Check out Pavel doing what he does best and in the process dropping Logan Couture to the ice. Pavel proceeded to pick up the broken ankles, tossed them in a bag, and then brought them home with him.

Pavel Datsyuk could dangle his way out of a straight jacket. Thursday during the Red Wings-Sharks game, Datsyuk got fancy in the corner against Sharks center Logan Couture. Couture was left grasping for air as he landed on his tuckus.
Fox Sports Detroit’s Mickey Redmond absolutely loved it, and rightfully so.
During last night's 2-0 loss to the San Jose Sharks, this may have been one of the lone highlights of the game for the Detroit Red Wings. With 12:16 left in the first period, Pavel Datsyuk absolutely embarrassed Logan Couture with a couple of fancy moves leaving the Sharks forward down on the ice. What a nasty birthday gift for Couture who turned 24 yesterday. Couture even tweeted...

from Frank Seravalli of the Philadelphia Daily News,
Here are five things the Flyers can do to make the last month of the season a lot more interesting:
When Claude Giroux was pounded, face-first in the boards in the third period Thursday night against a docile Islanders team, the Flyers did not react. When their captain and most important asset was lying on the...
Pavel Datsyuk makes NHL players look dumber than the sequel to Van Wilder (The Rise of Taj). His shootout goals are jaw dropping and his stick handling gives me a sports boner. Against the San Jose Sharks he puts some magical moves on Logan Couture that break his ankles and sends him flopping like Shane Battier. Like dropping the mic or throwing the ball into the stands, had Datsyuk...
Happy birthday, Logan Couture.
Pavel Datsyuk is here to remind you how slippery that ice can be:

Red Bird III remained parked at San Jose International Airport as the Red Wings' players chose to spend the night in San Jose instead of enduring an all-night flight back to Detroit after their game against the Sharks. After dropping a 2-0 decision to San Jose, whose only highlight involved Pavel Datsyuk dekeing Logan Couture out of his shorts, the Wings may have slept a little...
