Or something like that I suppose. In the latest uniform news as I return to college football blogging, after an extended personal holiday weekend, we have a new helmet to be worn by Louisiana Tech for the 2013 season. As you can see, the emphasis on the “T” is prominent as it is placed over the outline of the state of Louisiana, which resembles an “L.” In fact, this design is similar to the logo that has been on the side of the helmets since 1968, which The Helmet Project notes is one of the longest running helmet logos in college football. The big difference we see in this new helmet is that the “T”, which has long been white, is now shaded red to match the color of the helmet shell. You can see last year’s helmet for a comparison. New helmets for @LATechFB in 2013. Do you have your season tickets yet? #WeAreLATech pic.twitter.com/UpmvapEuJI — LA Tech Football (@LATechFB) July 10, 2013 I like the new helmet as Louisiana Tech opens a new chapter in program history. The Bulldogs are entering Conference USA this fall and will do so with a new head coach leading the program. I expect Louisiana Tech to be a factor in Conference USA rather quickly, but not quite this season. Once some of the upcoming realignment changes take effect, Louisiana Tech should become one of the top programs in the conference for sure.
