Is Temple the best college basketball team in the city? They are sure making a strong case.

In front of a great crowd at the Liacouras Center, the Fran Dunphy led Owls defeated the Villanova Wildcats by a score of 78-67.

Ramon Moore scored 32 points, and the Owls dominated the second half, outscoring Nova 43-31.

Temple was without Micheal Eric, their 6-foot-10 center, who is recovering from a knee injury. The size advantage for Nova was not enough.

This win was nothing short of huge for the Temple program, but the real question is: Are they the best team in the city? The fans think so, the players think so, so why should we not believe?

Back in late October, Yahoo ran a story about how Temple was ready to take over the city.

This reflects how Temple is poised to be the No. 1 college basketball team in Philadelphia, after years of being in Villanova's shadow. Ever since the John Cheney years, the Owls have given way to the Wildcats in the Big Five as Jay Wright turned Villanova into a national power. However, Wright is now back in rebuilding mode as Fran Dunphy works on making Temple even stronger.

That sure seems spot on right about now.
