Green Bay — The Green Bay Packers' defensive demise Sunday coincided with the loss of safety Nick Collins, making the prospects for marked improvement this week against St. Louis a bit sketchy. Other than calling it a clavicle sprain, coach Mike McCarthy did not give much detail Monday about the injury that Collins suffered when he hit wide receiver Laveranues Coles after a short reception with about six minutes left in the second quarter of the Packers' 31-24 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. McCarthy said he would be evaluated Wednesday to see whether he could practice, but given the fact he did not return against the Bengals, his status for this Sunday is definitely in question. If Collins can't play, the Packers will be starting backups at both safety positions because Atari Bigby (knee) is out again this week.
