The Indianapolis Colts continued to construct their coaching staff with the addition of Joe Gilbert. Gilbert was named offensive coordinator at Alabama-Birmingham in January before accepting a position as offensive assistant on coach Chuck Paganos staff. There was no announcement from the Colts, but UAB coach Garrick McGee said in a statement released by the school, All of us at UAB want to congratulate Joe on the opportunity to move to the NFL and to coach the game at the highest level. He is a fantastic ball coach and a better person. Prior to joining UAB, Gilbert was on the staff at Illinois for three years.
