Fox - The Hockey Guy:
High-scoring defenseman Kris Letang missed three Penguins game with concussion-like symptoms. Finally the team got around to diagnosing him with a concussion and placed him under the league’s protocol for such injuries. As Pens fans learned with the long-running Sidney Crosby saga, Letang now faces an uncertain immediate future. So does defenseman Zbynek Michalek, who was also diagnosed with a concussion three games after he suffered his initial injury. The Penguin provided no clues as to the severity of either concussion.
Letang has 19 points in 22 games, putting him in a tie for fourth among the top-scoring defensemen in the NHL this season. Michalek has four points in 14 games this year.Among the Penguins seeking to pick up their place in their absence: Puck-moving defenseman Paul Martin, who last scored a goal on Dec. 4, 2010.

Kris Letang took a nasty blow to the head, breaking his nose, in the game last week against the Montreal Canadiens by Max Pacioretty. He passed an immediate concussion test and was allowed to come back into the game and subsequently scored the winning goal in overtime. However following the game he was flown back to Pittsburgh to be evaulated and was then determined to have a...
Christine Simpson of Sportnet has a sit-down interview with Matt Cooke.
The interview is almost 20 minutes long and can be viewed below.

We missed posting this when it came out, but it's still a great video. DJ Steve Porter welcomes Sidney Crosby back to the NHL. This aired on Hockey Night in Canada last week (we think...) Cy makes an appearance.
Tyler Seguin. Sidney Crosby. Two young stars who both seem to have impossibly high ceilings and ooze potential. Crosby has capitalized on much of his and is already firmly established as the league's premier player despite being only 24 years old. He missed a chunk of time battling post-concussion symptoms, but in his return to the ice, he's looked just as good as he ever...
Contrary to popular belief, I do not live in Canada, but rather in Brooklyn, New York. Though I have been made an honorary Canadian in respect for my love of Labatt’s Blue, the Arcade Fire and hockey; not to mention the fact that […]
The Penguins -- who held their morning skate without defensemen Kris Letang, Zbynek Michalek and Deryk Engelland -- have recalled defenseman Alexander Picard from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.
At this rate, the Bruins may never lose again.
It's been 38 days since the Bruins' last regulation loss, but it seemed that their run of ridiculousness was bound to end with a meeting against the East-best Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins, 7-0-1 in their last eight home contests, are widely considered Boston's biggest competition within the conference in this still...

The Penguins and Bruins, who were separated by just 3 points at the top of the Eastern Conference coming into tonight, met at the Consol Energy Center in what was supposed to be an epic clash of two of the league’s best. Unfortunately for the Penguins they were never really able to get to their game and when they did, Tim Thomas was there to slam the door on them.
Pittsburgh Penguins forward prospects Kenny Agostino and Josh Archibald were among 30 players invited today to Team USA’s World Junior Championship tryout camp Dec. 17-23 at the Edgeworth Centre in Camrose, Alberta.

Seems like almost every time the Penguins are preparing to play a game these days, a coach or player -- or both -- suggests that facing them will provide a good "measuring stick" for his club. Makes sense. The Penguins have hovered near the top of the league standings in recent years, won a Stanley Cup in 2009 and employ some of the game's most gifted individuals.
Barely a month ago, the Boston Bruins were at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, but a torrid run has brought them within three points of Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Boston will try to extend its 14-game point streak and move closer to the East-leading Penguins when it visits Pittsburgh on Monday night.

PITTSBURGH -- Good morning from the Consol Energy Center, home of the Penguins, where tonight the Bruins have a chance to pull within one point of the Eastern Conference leaders. The Penguins, with Sidney Crosby back in the lineup...
