The Bruins played their worst game of the season the last time they faced off with Buffalo, and Sabres forward Thomas Vanek had a great deal to do with that.
The 29-year-old Austrian tallied five points, including a hat trick, in his team’s 7-4 win over Boston and is off to perhaps the best start of his eight-year career. Vanek leads the NHL in both goals (11) and points (23) through 11 games.
His success against the B’s is nothing new, however. In 46 career games against Boston, Vanek has scored 28 goals, including four game-winners, and holds a plus-22 rating.
Check out the Bruins’ plans to neutralize Vanek’s fast start in the video above from W.B. Mason Bruins Face-Off LIVE.

Vanek Storm Warning
It really didn’t take the start to this season by Thomas Vanek for some knuckleheads out there finally to come to the realization that the guy can be pretty good at hockey, did it? Were these the last holdouts, the diehards, who still hold it against Vanek that his agent played the sitch to perfection in July 2007? Whatever. The Sabres now have 9 points this year, and he...
Bruins Defining Consistency While Jumping Out to Best 10-Game Start in Club History
The Bruins keep coming back to one important thing. It’s been clear in the way they talk before and after games, and more importantly, it’s been clear in the way they’ve played. Kevin Freiheit: Sabres survive storm

Anton Khudobin Giving Bruins All They Can Ask For as Tuukka Rask’s Backup
The Bruins probably should have won by three or four goals Sunday night in Buffalo, but Ryan Miller was stellar in net for the Sabres, and only allowed two goals (Boston added an empty-netter) in a 3-1 win Bruins win.
Miller made a couple of highlight-reel saves and made himself one of the major story lines of the game. In the process, Miller overshadowed his counterpart at the other...
Bruins Weekly Review: Bruins squeak out some close ones
The Bruins are off to their best 10-game start in franchise history, improving to 8-1-1 after a Sunday night win against the Sabres. The Bruins have started out February with three straight wins, holding their opponents to two goals while just scoring six goals themselves. This might not come as a surprise as the Bruins haven’t won a game by more than two goals all season, but...

Bruins’ Snow Day Against Lightning Joins New Jersey’s Fabled ’334′ Game in NHL Lore (Video)
The Bruins tried to play on Saturday despite some snowy conditions in Boston, but ultimately the NHL decided to postpone the game.
While it might be difficult for the B’s to find a date to play the Lightning again, that trouble pales in comparison to the fate that befell several New Jersey Devils players back in 1987. As NESN’s Andy Brickley remembers it, New Jersey had a devil...

The plane sputters to a stop. It is warm out...warm for here, anyway, and for a long while these are the last quiet moments he will enjoy. He asks for a reminder about his living arrangement...
