Padres-hundley-bats
The Colorado Rockies have been a thorn in the Padres’ side all season long, but they were able to exact some revenge over the weekend. Coming off a winning series against the Giants in the middle of the week, the Padres were able to sweep the Rockies in front of the home town crowd. Yesterday it was pitching that got them through yet again as Ian Kennedy went a solid five innings before turning it over to the bullpen. Nick Hundley came up huge in the seventh with a bases loaded double that cleared the bases to make the game 5-2. That wound up being the final as Huston Street grabbed his 29th save on the season. No baseball today as it is a travel day to Philadelphia for the team. So go ahead and enjoy Monday Night Football! Hundley delivers in the Nick of time for Friars – Padres.com “Which is why his three-run pinch-hit double in the seventh inning Sunday probably felt so sweet, as the Padres completed a three-game sweep of the Rockies with a 5-2 victory in front of a crowd of 18,6...

(Getty Images) Chacin is enjoying a nice season for the Rockies posting a 13-8 record with a respectable 3.16 ERA. He has won four of his last seven starts and over his last 11 Chacin has surrendered more than three runs only once. Two starts...

Cam Maybin’s Wrist: Who’s To Blame

On Friday, Cameron Maybin underwent successful surgery on his right wrist to repair a torn TFCC ligament in his wrist. If rehabilitation goes as planned, he should be able and ready at full strength to start the 2014 season. That’s the good news. The bad news comes in waves. First, it’s now been 2 full years since Maybin suffered his initial injury on the wrist. He has now essentially...

Poll: The Padres over the Remaining 50 Games (Part 4)

With ten more games in the books for our San Diego Padres the time has come to revisit the poll we began over one month ago. The predictions for the Padres over the remaining 50 games were not very promising then and when the team went 2-8 through games 113-122 suspicions about a disastrous finish seemed to be confirmed. Or were they? The Padres turned things around during their...

As the minor league season wraps up, we take one final look at all six affiliates to highlight the players who made the biggest contributions in August. Haikuarrhea: Week 23 in Padres Baseball

In an effort to stay close to our roots, the staff at Padres Public, will offer-up a haiku each Monday (sorry – I’m late) to describe the previous week in Padres Baseball. Restricting our feelings to 3 lines and 17 syllables to describe a week of play is a massive undertaking, but (un) fortunately, we are more than up to the task. The Padres had a weird week. They were swept...

Tough loss shows areas where the Colorado Rockies need offseason improvement

Matt BelisleIt's easy to blame Matt Belisle. The reliever has been a shell of himself since before the All-Star Break. The Colorado Rockies have asked him to get the job done in several high pressure situations, and frankly, he hasn't gotten it done. With Belisle more than willing to admit that he didn't get his job done, what Rockies fans are really seeing is that the...

Garbage time for the Colorado Rockies

Garbage time. Every athlete fears it, for if you are playing during garbage time you are likely not high on your team’s depth chart. The only fans that hang around are your parents. Your friends will tell you they stayed, but they caught your at-bat while toasting your team’s large victory or washing away your embarrassing defeat at the local pub. So why is garbage time relevant...

WATCH: Padres fan walks around Petco Park on stilts

Your browser does not support iframes. Well, here is something you don't see everyday. On Sunday, during the Rockies-Padres game at Petco Park, this fan decided to make his way around the stadium on a pair of stilts. How did the man sneak into the park with stilts? We don't know. But we do know that he did and the result was one crazy spectacle.

Quo Vadimus: The Infield

Dana, I’m what the world considers to be a phenomenally successful man, and I’ve failed much more than I’ve succeeded. And each time I fail, I get my people together, and I say, “Where are we going?” And it starts to get better.” – Calvin Traeger, Sports Night Towards the end of the second and last season of the great, short-lived Aaron Sorkin dramedy Sports Night,...

Padres-Phillies Preview

Looking to extend a hot stretch just like their opponent is, the San Diego Padres likely have to generate the run support they've lacked in Andrew Cashner's recent starts to continue theirs. Pitching well despite being winless in more than a month, Cashner tries to help visiting San Diego win its fourth straight Tuesday night while keeping the Philadelphia Phillies from...
