Dallas Sidekicks shoot down B-52s in PASL opener; Tulsa & Hidalgo suffer opening day losses

Posted November 03, 2013

Cracking opening to the PASL season for Dallas on Saturday evening at the Allen Center where they shot down the B-52s with a barrage of goals.

In front of over 4500 watching spectators, the Dallas side demolished the visiting Witchita team 15-3 in their opening 2013/14 PASL league match which extends their winning home run in regular season games to nine.

Nestor Hernandez and Franck Mbemba both grabbed themselves an opening day four goals in the rout, but the fans had to wait until five minutes into the first quarter before the net bulged from the opener. After that, the floodgates opened and the goals rained down upon the busy and unfortunate Witchita keeper.

It's a great start to the season for the North Texan side and they will hope to take that form into next weekends matches, which are on the road against San Diego and Ontario, November 9 & 10 respectively. Neither of the opposition have started their account yet and will be looking for opening day victories.

Elsewhere across the region, expansion side Tulsa Revolution faced a tricky start to their inaugural season with trips to Illinois and Chicago.

Despite valiant efforts in both games, they returned home without a win, losing 7-4 in their opening game against Illinois, followed the evening after with a 10-5 defeat against Chicago. the Chicago game saw a free scoring third period score of 8-4 in favour of the hosts which decided the game in favour of the Chicago side.

Newly named Hidalgo La Fiera also suffered an opening day loss but Monterrey required overtime to clinch the narrow 6-5 win in front of a huge crowd at Monterrey Arena.

Next up for our Region 3 sides:
Dallas away to San Diego Sockers Saturday November 9
Dallas away to Ontario Fury Sunday November 10
Texas Strikers open their season with the trip to Hidalgo La Fiera in an all Texas tie on Sunday November 10

Good luck to the Sidekicks in an important double header away from home and also to both teams taking part in the Texas tussle on Sunday night.
