Recruiting can rip your heart out or pleasantly surprise you just as easily. On Wednesday, Florida Gators' fans were treated to the good kind of surprise when JUCO defensive tackle Damien Jacobs pulled off a stunner. Jacobs—a long-time Tennessee Volunteers' commit—chose the good guys instead and signed with Florida. For more on Jacobs' shocker, head over to Alligator Army.

Q&A with Gators def. coordinator Dan Quinn

GAINESVILLE, Fla. Gators defensive coordinator Dan Quinn went back to school this season, returning to college football after a decade as an NFL assistant. Unlike the rest of Will Muschamp's staff, the Gator Bowl will be the first bowl game Quinn has ever coached or played in. In his first season at UF, Quinn's defense finished ranked ninth overall nationally in total defense...

Depleted Roster Should Fill Quick

The Florida Gators have been a little behind the eight ball this year in terms of depth on the football roster. Will Muschamp’s first year ended with 68 scholarship players that weren’t walk-ons awarded scholarships this season. That is 17 scholarship players under the limit and it puts a premium on keeping guys healthy throughout the year and means they need to be prudent in...

Remembering Mary Lakes

Five years ago today in the midst of preparing for the biggest and what would be the last game of his career with the Florida Gators, safety Reggie Nelson lost his mother to cancer. Mary Lakes fought valiantly with breast cancer for three years before passing away on December 21, 2006. A fearsome player on the field, Nelson was a "mama's boy" in the best possible way...

No. 11 Florida 82, Florida St. 64

Patric Young showed the best post moves of his career, a performance that included dunks, layups and several nifty hook shots with each hand. More impressive was what he did on the other end of the floor. Young scored 15 points and had a highlight-reel block - a left-handed gem that sparked a decisive second-half run - and No. 11 Florida beat rival Florida State 82-64 on Thursday...

Bruce Pearl . . . Master Recruiter

Jordan Adams, of Oak Hill Academy, is one of the top 50 recruits in the nation. Although Adams was recruited by many, he eventually chose to play at UCLA. That’s not the interesting part of his recruitment. That comes from the “tactics” Bruce Pearl used to try to lure Adams to play basketball at the University of Tennessee. When asked by the National Recruiting Spotlight to...

UNC Asheville Basketball: Tough Loss at Tennessee

We’ve seen it before…a team gets up 11 in the first half and the other team comes back to make it a close game. Then, in the second half, a 10 point lead evaporates. Usually, UNC Asheville is the one trailing, but Tuesday night at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, TN, the Tennessee Volunteers were the team rallying for a 72-68 win. Tennessee-native J.P. Primm scored a season...

Floyd Ready to Move Back to His Natural Position

Enough went wrong with Florida football during the fall that it would be tough to differentiate the lows from the even lowers. Unless you're Sharrif Floyd, that is. UF's sophomore defensive lineman tends to find the positives in everything.
