If Gilbert could of pulled out a close victory, we could of had a very big night for Ex-Strikeforce fighters.  Seems like Strikeforce guys need to get a little more respect at this time, as they have proved themselves in the UFC.  Thomson’s KO of Diaz was nasty and Cormier dominated Mir in a ‘safe’ win.  Look forward to more Strikeforce vs UFC fights in the near future. Jitters got to Cormier in UFC debut

Daniel Cormier ran into the Octagon at UFC on FOX 7 on Saturday, the heavyweight apparently eager to make his UFC debut. But he wasn't nearly as active once the fight began. He did get the win, but only by outmaneuvering two-time UFC champ Frank Mir in a listless fight that drew jeers from many of those assembled inside HP Pavilion. "Obviously, you are going to continue...

Nate Diaz vs Josh Thomson: UFC on FOX 7 ‘Fight of The Night’ early pick

An interesting 155-pound mixed martial arts (MMA) bout is set to take place at UFC on FOX 7, which will emanate from HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., later this evening (Sat., April 20, 2013). Nate Diaz returns after a losing effort against UFC Lightweight Champion Ben Henderson in his most recent performance, colliding with Josh Thomson, who similarly failed to secure a world title...

Cormier and Cain Hang With 49er Star Aldon Smith

Cormier and Cain are two of the best wrestlers in the UFC and while they are friends and training partners, they could be on a collision course for a future fight.  With Cormier dominating guys such as Bigfoot, Josh Barnett, and Frank Mir, he has proved that he can beat up on bigger HW’s and has shown no reason to move down to 205 at this time. Daniel Cormier and Josh Thomson...

UFC on Fox 7 fight card: Daniel Cormier vs Frank Mir fight review and analysis

Two of the top-ranked heavyweights on the planet collided last night (April 20, 2013) as Daniel Cormier took on two-time UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir in the co-main event of UFC on Fox 7 in San Jose, California. The bout has originally been scheduled to take place on Cormier's turf at a Strikeforce event last November, but an injury to Mir prevented it. This time, however...

UFC on FOX 7 results: Has the Diaz striking riddle been solved?

After delivering one of the more shocking upsets the mixed martial arts (MMA) world has seen in recent years, Josh Thomson showed that he's been paying attention in class. In his second-round "Knockout of the Night" of the eminently durable Nate Diaz (watch the replay here), Thomson made a triumphant return to UFC, where he hadn't competed since 2004. In short,...

UFC on FOX 7: Cormier Mir vs. Frank Mir (Video Highlights)

Despite posting a landslide unanimous decision victory over former UFC heavyweight champ Frank Mir on Saturday night, Daniel Cormier (pictured) admitted his big league debut was nothing to write home about. In fact, Cormier said he “kind of laid an egg.” Nonetheless, a win is a win. Cormier continued to press Mir’s back against the cage and dominate the action from the fence...

Nate Diaz is calling for more weight classes in the UFC.

On Saturday night Nate Diaz was TKOd by Josh Thomson. This marks the first time a Diaz brother was finished outside the KJ Noons cut at Elite XC since Jeremy Jackson finished Nick in 2002. Two brothers, a bunch of fights, a decade passed. It’s quite a milestone for Josh Thomson actually, the perennially injured lightweight contender who hasn’t finished anyone in the last four...

Henderson takes home two prizes

Benson Henderson got down on one knee at the conclusion of the UFC on FOX 7 main event. It was to propose to his girlfriend, not to say thanks for a split decision over Gilbert Menendez that allowed Henderson to successfully defend his UFC lightweight title at HP Pavilion on Saturday. "I know how tough Gilbert Melendez is," Henderson said in his post-fight interview as...
