Daniel Nava is off to a red-hot start this season, which makes it hard to believe that he once considered walking away from baseball. “Yeah, I did, a couple of times,” Nava said when asked if he ever considered retiring, according to WEEI.com. Nava’s baseball journey has been interesting to say the least. Nava went undrafted out of college, and he then played in the Golden Baseball League before finally joining the Red Sox organization in 2008. At that point, he bounced around the system until his big league debut in 2010. From there, he went back-and-forth between the majors and the minors, even spending all of 2011 at Triple-A Pawtucket. Now, Nava seems like a big league mainstay. The 30-year-old leads the Red Sox with a .357 average through Boston’s first 17 games. He also has four home runs, 14 RBIs and a sudden flair for the dramatic. The thought of him stepping away seems outlandish, but he reportedly considered retiring when he went undrafted and then again prior to t...

A number of athletes have used their equipment to pay their respects to the victims of this past week’s tragic events. On Sunday, Jonny Gomes will use his bat to pay homage. Will Middlebrooks tweeted a photo prior to the first game of the Red Sox’ doubleheader against the Royals. It’s supposedly of the lumber that Gomes will use. The bat features the names of the four people...

David Ortiz is set to make his return for the Boston Red Sox following an eight-month layoff. Recap: Boston, Red Sox win

(AP Photo/Michael Dwyer) I started writing some nonsense about how the Sox 4-3 victory over the Royals this afternoon was symbolic of the city of Boston in the wake of the Marathon tragedy.  'Never give up' and all that.  But America's pastime is meant to be a reprieve from all of that.  As a wrote this morning, this game was a great way to clear our minds of this...

Red Sox Weekly Preview

The Boston Red Sox had quite the emotional week this past week, but continued to play red hot baseball. The team has won 5 out of 6 games and are playing their second game of the double header against Kansas City as I write this. The team has been lead by excellent pitching. This coming week the Red Sox will play every game at Fenway, continuing a 10 game home stand. Here is the...

Video: Daniel Nava's 3-Run HR Gives Red Sox 4-3 Win

The Boston Bruins did their best to win on an emotional day on Saturday for all Boston sports teams. They fell short in their quest. Trailing 2-1 in the 8th, Daniel Nava made sure the Boston Red Sox wouldn't suffer the same fate with a three-run home run in an eventual 4-3 win over the Kansas City Royals. {mp4remote}http://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/2013...

Coming off a frustrating weekend that saw that Red Sox drop two out of three from the Kansas City Royals, the Sox look to rebound with an upcoming three game series with the Oakland Athletics beginning on Monday night.
