That was a Surprise!
The Raiders had the 7th overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft and many thought when Michael Crabtree was available that Oakand would select him. Why shouldn't they as after all Crabtree was a two time Fred Biletnikoff award winner (only receiver in college history to accomplish this award twice). Biletnikoff is a NFL Hall of Famer and played for the Raiders for those of you that don't know.
But Oakland choose another path and shocked the football world by taking receiver Darrious Heyward-Bey instead. In a way this pick made sense as the Raiders do love to draft players will all the measurable. Heyward-Bey clearly has those with his 6'2, 210 pound frame and a 4.3, 40 yard dash time. So far hearing interviews with the guy on Bay Area radio Darrious seem like a nice guy as well. That is truly something you can not say about receivers in the NFL all the time. Then again Terrell Owens was a really nice guy before he was a super star with the 49ers, so who knows if Bey will stay a nice guy.....
