The Guru Contributing Writer Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz belted two home runs in Saturday's 7-4 win that pushed the Rays to the brink of elimination in the ALDS. After the second home run, Ortiz stood at home and watched as the ball went high and deep over the Pesky Pole. While Red Sox Lifer's appreciated Big Papi's pair of bombs, Tampa Bay starter David Price did not. Price told reporters after the loss: "He knows how I've pitched him the last year and a half, probably two years,He steps in the bucket and he hits a homer, and he stares at it to see if it's fair or foul — I'm sure that's what he'd say. But as soon as he hit it and I saw it, I knew it was fair. Run." Ortiz said: "I was trying to see if the ball went fair or foul... I got a lot of respect for Price. This guy is special. No doubt." One would think Price has bigger problems to worry about following his outing in which he allowed seven runs in seven-pl...

Rays' Price apologizes for tweets

This week, it was David Price's turn to learn a cardinal rule of social media: Stay off Twitter when you're angry. David Price Goes on Sore Loser Twitter Rant

Rays ace David Price was clearly not himself yesterday. The Red Sox lit up the reigning Cy Young winner for seven runs—including two Big Papi home run specials—in Saturday's Game 2 victory, which was surprising in itself as I think we all expected it to be a little tougher than that. Then post game, we was visually frustrated, calling reporters and David Ortiz "...

David Ortiz and David Price make up

After David Ortiz's two-home run night on Saturday, Tampa Bay Rays ace David Price was not too happy.  It wasn't just the fact that Ortiz had gotten the best of him, Price thought Ortiz showed the Rays up and stared at one of his home runs a little too long.  However, it looks like things have been patched up. Ian Browne of MLB.com says Ortiz and Price talked yesterday...

You've messed with the wrong nerd

I'll never forget receiving the call in May 2012. Our Saturday MLB on Fox broadcast had just ended, and I was gathering my belongings near the television production trucks at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. Rays manager Joe Maddon was on the line. He wanted to know if I would be OK with the Rays holding a "Ken Rosenthal/Nerd" themed road trip, bow ties and all...
