Dear Jerry Jones,

I'm writing in response to your comment on you being disappointed your team got humiliated by the Chicago Bears. We know you expect more than what your team has given you since you spent millions of dollars just like many of the current power-house teams and mid-level franchises.

We know you have a legacy to grow with legions and generations of Cowboy fans who have known the names of Staubach, Dorsett, Aikman, Smith, Irvin, and Sanders and have done everything you can to mold a championship contender with Tony Romo, DeMarcus Ware, Dez Bryant, and DeMarco Murray. But after what you said last night about you being disappointed, the best response from many Cowboy fans is, "Yes, Jerry, we are too, but we've heard all of this before".

We all know Mr. Jones that the Cowboys were more than beaten by Chicago Bears on Monday night on ESPN. They were destroyed. The Bears offense was on fire with Jay Cutler having Matt Forte playing well despite playing hurt, Brandon Marshall running circles around the cowboys secondary, and the Brian Urlacher-led defense blitzing Tony Romo and taking advantage of the weakness of Dez Bryant and the inconsistent coaching of Jason Garrett.

This is time for you, Mr. Jones, to look into the mirror of what your franchise is and think of changes of how you build your team. Is it time for a re-examination of your leadership as general manager of the Dallas Cowboys? You've seen your franchise win only win one playoff game since 1999. In your glittering and gigantic dome you've seen your franchise have a record of 14 wins and 12 losses. A winning record yes, but i'm sure you want way more than that. And you've seen your franchise get off to good starts only to swoon in December and falter fast like last season when your team lost twice to the Giants and losing both opportunities to clinch the NFC East.

Yes, Mr. Jones, you are the owner and you can build your team how you want. But I bet you've watched how other franchises like the Mavericks, Lakers, Heat, Yankees, Patriots, and Celtics went through the motions of losing even in good times and kept building their teams with changes in the front office that were the first steps into building their teams to winning championships after brief dry spells.

I'm sure you've read and seen all the stories of how owners and other general managers like Steinbrenner, Buss, Riley, and Cuban learned hard lessons about changing their dialogue as well as the way the control a franchise to win a championship.

Maybe fans and columnists in football-mad Dallas are telling you to do the same thing. Of course it's up to you. You have a great multi-purpose stadium in Arlington and legions of fans who support your team religiously. But they still want a championship as bad as you want to. Maybe it's time for a change.

Nolan Ryan's Rangers may have fallen short of the MLB championship twice, but they were scene stealer's in Dallas advancing to the World Series in a year you wanted your Cowboys to be the host team in the super bowl in your dome and did it again the year after. The Mavericks won the NBA title soon after the Packers beat the Steelers in your dome in the super bowl soon after. Even with all of that, the whole town still waits for your team to do the same. So in closing Mr. Jones, do the fans in Dallas a favor. You can do what you want, but with all that's happened over the last 12 years, take everything into account, especially after Monday night, and think about it. Just don't wait until the start of the offseason.
