Found December 06, 2012 on The Football Fan Spot:
Denver Broncos (9-3) at Oakland Raiders (3-9) The Raiders actually gave a little bit of effort last week. They still lost at home to the previously 3-8 Browns in a game they trailed throughout, but that was sadly a big step up from where they were the week before. In their 3 games prior, they lost all 3 by 21 or more, which is actually incredibly rare. That’s only the 13th time that’s happened since 1989, which is why I love betting teams off back-to-back losses of 21 or more (36-17 ATS since 2002). This week, the Raiders are actually in a really good spot. For one, divisional favorites of more than a touchdown are just 2-10 ATS this season, which I think speaks to the high level of parity in the NFL this season. The Broncos struggled and failed to cover the spread in a win in Kansas City two weeks ago in a very similar type game. Meanwhile, teams are 102-57 ATS as dogs before being favorites in the last 2 seasons and the Raiders host the Chiefs next week, a game they are expected t...

Are Broncos playing down to their opponents?

Big Pete of the comments has a guest piece for your reading pleasure this morning. Thanks Pete for volunteering to do this! Let him know what you think in the comments! Since earlier in the week seemed to be “Nit-Pick Day”, here is a list of the things I nit-pick the Broncos about. #1. We seem to always play down to our opponent’s level. What is it with the Broncos for the...

Raiders QB Terrelle Pryor & RB Taiwan Jones To See More Playing Time

Raiders head coach Dennis Allen mentioned he wants to give some of their younger talent including QB Terrelle Pryor and RB Taiwan Jones more work in the coming weeks, per Steve Corkran. Oakland has maintained that they believe Pryor can be a quarterback in the NFL, but there are plenty of questions as to whether or not he’s capable of handling the position. Jones, who played...

Raiders can't keep up with the Broncos, lose 26-13

The Oakland Raiders looked like they had something going in their favor when they went to halftime losing only by six, after scoring a touchdown and stopping Peyton Manning’s two-minute drill. But then came the second half and the Broncos, with 13 unanswered points in the 3rd quarter, took control of the ballgame and never gave it back. The loss [...]

Thursday Night Football Preview: Raiders vs. Broncos

Oakland Raiders vs. Denver Broncos The fantasy football playoffs are here, so its time to make each start and sit decision count. One wrong move and you could potentially be done for the year. There are some sure thing starts in this week’s divisional battle, but there are also a few puzzling ones that most owners will have a tough decision on: such as will Knowshon Moreno continue...

Raiders deny report of Gruden's return

The Oakland Raiders on Wednesday strongly denied a report that club was negotiating to bring former coach Jon Gruden back to the club. The report, broke by Pro Football Weekly editor Hub Arkush on Tuesday, said that Gruden was discussing on the same day that current coach Dennis Allen was attending the funeral of this father. "... There are two people on this planet that...

Broncos run winning streak to eight

After overwhelming another overmatched division rival, Peyton Manning and the streaking Denver Broncos can turn their attention to much more meaningful opponents. Manning threw for 310 yards and had his 30th touchdown pass of the season on the game's opening drive to help the Broncos roll to their eighth straight victory, 26-13 over the Oakland Raiders on Thursday night. Knowshon...

I Was Wrong About The Denver Broncos

When I was looking at the AFC West coming into this season, I felt it was a division that was up for grabs. A lot of people were quick to pick the Denver Broncos simply because they were able to add one of the biggest free agents ever known in quarterback Peyton Manning. I wasn't one of those people to pick the Broncos because I had to see just which Peyton Manning we were going...

Brandon Stokley is active for game against Raiders

Brandon Stokley will play in Thursday nights game against the Oakland Raiders. Stokley missed the Broncos last game dealing with a wrist injury. His return to the team will obviously boost its offensive presence but will have a negative impact on targets for tight-end Jacob Tamme. For the season Stokley has 36 catches for 449 yards and 5 touchdowns. Denver is a  10.5 point favorite...

Raiders drop to Broncos, 26-13

The Raiders extended their losing streak to 6 straight and dropped their overall record to 3-10 with a 26-13 loss to the rival Denver Broncos. The Raiders were large underdogs coming into the game but looked like they might be able to make it interesting as they went into half only down 6 points to the Manning-led Broncos. They came out driving well in the second half, as...

Fantasy Football Week 14 Preview: Broncos at Raiders

Fantasy playoffs are on the line. It begins with the Thursday night football game. The red hot Denver Broncos meet the ice cold Oakland Raiders. If it wasn't Thursday night it would be a slam dunk. But it is a Thursday night game where the visiting team does not do so well. But this is not Tim Tebow's Broncos. This is Peyton Manning's team. Is there anyone you can...

State of the AFC West: Week 14 Edition

I gotta be honest, Raider Nation. I’m running out of things to talk about, report, and analyze in the AFC West. It’s pretty simple, really. The Denver Broncos are good. The Chargers, Chiefs, and Raiders are not. The Broncos clinched the division title this past weekend and now set their sights on a 2 or 3 seed in the playoffs. The [...]
